This is actually something I did last summer, but I'd like some feedback on this jewel-skeleton creature thing I have going here. I'd like to do more and I'm planning a Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse series in this style. Thoughts?

EDIT: Okay, I'm still a retarded little noob here, but I attached this image to a different thread somewhere and I don't know how to link to it cleanly here. Also, how do you get those little thumbnails next to the thread link to work? I tried attaching a small image like it says on the threads that cover this, but I don't know why it doesn't work.

Hi, retarted little noob, and welcome to CA! (j/k)

I like the transparent thing you have going with the bones and the color of the bird. What I don't care for is the candle. It looks totally out of place as far as detail goes. It's kind of cartoonish looking where the bird is more realistic, I guess you could say. It has no detail, it just looks like a white blob and the flame as well. If you look at a real flame, the blue gets darker around the edge of the flame. Work on the candle. It might also look good if there was some cast blue highlights on the bird.

Develop the wings a bit more, maybe make them look/behave like flames too. Just an idea. Any plans for a background?

Keep it up!

Now that I'm taking a second look, I don't like that the candle is stark white, either. It draws all the eye's attention and distracts from the bird. Try a different color, perhaps.

Ask yourself, what is the intended focal point?

I would suggest that you look at the skeleton of a bird. If you have a natural history museum nearby you probably can find one.
