View Full Version : Quick Photoshop/Tablet Question

Hey, sorry but I couldn't find an answer online to this.

This is kind of difficult to describe, but I will try as best as I can:

When I paint in Painter or any other program, the pen works fine; a small stroke will result in a corresponding mark on the screen.

In Photoshop, however, if I put down the pen (say, to make a mark) and try to draw a very short line (something within about a millimeter on screen), the cursor on screen will not move. I have to "drag" the pen further in order for a mark to appear. It's not a problem when painting from a wider perspective, but for small details, or for sketches, it's a real pain.

Is there any way to fix this?

Tried zooming in to around 200-400% and using a smaller marker?

Are you using vista? If so, install the latest drivers (should be 6.02), disable pen flicks and all of the tablet pc crap.

Hmm I'm not using vista...

What I mean is, the mark seems to appear with a slightly delayed interval. Once the initial mark is made, the rest of the stroke will flow smoothly on the screen.

Once the mark appears, it looks fine. It's just a little annoying that there is a delayed reaction when I make small marks.

Shurin, zooming in does seem to help a little, but I don't understand why this still occurs at 100%. It might just be an optical thing, as the brush seems larger so a small stroke fills up more of the screen.

Anyway, I've been drawing with PS for two years now and it's not a major problem, but if there's a solution I'd be very happy :)

edit: I'll try the updated driver, maybe that will help - thanks for the tip

edit 2: you know what, that driver did it. Dunno why I never though of it before. Thanks!
