Is this normal?

I was wondering if this was normal in Photoshop. I zoomed out to about 16% and did the lines you see here. It's really annoying when it happens even at 25% like the lines down the bottom were done. It was weird becuase the grey lines underneith the black ones were done the night before at 25% as well and they dont seem jagged. Is there something wrong with my tablet or my photoshop application? might I have accidnetly changed a setting? I have an Intuos 3 and Photoshop CS 2, I also have smoothing turned on. Any help would be appreciated.

No, it's not normal, but I can't say what the problem might be. intuos 3 tablets have such a high resolution that when combined with PS stroke interpolation they should yield smooth lines down to insane zooms (I tested this at 1% zoom and it yielded smooth lines, albeit changing direction sharply in some places)

Some questions:

-Operating system
-Wacom driver version
-Is your tablet set to map to the screen on a 1:1 basis? Should be in wacom properties.

My operating system is XP Professional and is up to date I believe. The driver is version 6.02-1. I don't know how to find out if my mapping is set to 1:1(the tablet is mapped to use the whole screen if thats what you mean) but I don't think that would be the problem. I tested in Painter IX.5 and there were no problems. I could zoom out all the way to 1% and no jagged lines present at all.

also, have you tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling ps?

Turns out my CPU fan was clogged with dust. cleaned it and it worked straight away. Computer started running much smoother. I didn't even notice how badly my computer was running. Good lesson
