I know I'm sorry my jackass web host is screwing shit up.

I just contacted them and they said they are having technical difficulties. no shit. I wonder if anyone has said "sorry we're having personal difficulties. As soon as we're done kicking the crap out of each other up here we'll get your stuff you pay for up'n running."

sorry just venting.

that's wicked...can't wait to see it finished....just one little suggestion.....conan's head seems big for his body...
(great work on your website by the way)

Cool man! Dug it in the sketch thread, still diggin it here. My only suggestion would be to lose the fire, it competes a bit too much with Conan's face for the center of interest IMO.

I love the way you rendered the clothes on the guy getting strangled.

What I LOVE to see in pieces like this are those little details, hints that you need to keep watching and find. The ones that give you hint of the action and movement... Like this key set for example !
I wondering what's going on with his deltoïd/pec/lower ribcage there. I understand that Conan needs to have an exagerated musculature but skeletal wise ? Don't mind me really; I really like that piece :)

Hey man,

Nice work, just one suggestion;

You might want to think about putting a light highlight on the chest of the guy getting strangled. Right now it's a little hard to differentiate between Conan’s arm and his chest, so at first glance it kind of looks like Conan is punching through him.
I'd leave Conan's arm alone though, if you add too much to that area, it's going to distract from the area of focus.

hey mitch, i liked this one allot. hope you do not mind me playing around on it a little. i usually only do this on pieces that are already rockin, makes it easy.

the keys are such a nice touch, funny how that little detail can add so much motion to the whole scene.

Hey guys thanks alot. I appreciate the input on this one.

Jon that is awesome. I love what you've done with this. by openeing up the dark at the bottom you've taken the emphasis off of that fire, which is cool. I also have to learn to desat my colors more as well like youve daone with his torso and face. With the guy on the bottom It was intended to be him grabbiong on to Conan's arm trying to restrain him, but I like the placement of the legs of Conan. So I'll definitely have to go back to this one and tweak some more. It seems to me that your work is getting more and more refined. It seems you are taking it to another level. I look foreward to you new stuff. Thanks for the help. Also Glen Angus says "Hey!"

Softdrawer: ouch man that hurt. I'll admit that Frazetta has a huge influence on my work, as does Howard Pyle and Sargent and Bisley, and I've also been dabbling with more dynamic poses and action shot due to Fosters influence on me as well. Like my Giant Killer sometime ago.

I've also been trying to get away from giving it all to the viewer. I feel like I don't need to show where exactly that left arm is going. If you want to interpret it as a strangle hold, go for it; if you want to interpret it as amore violent , punch through the chest cavity cool. I think it adds a sense of adventure to leave some work for the viewer to play with and imagine it in your own way. I know there are some Frazetta pieces that always left me wondering what was going on but I always liked those more because they always drew me in to create my own story. There is far too much "feeding" these days and not enough adventure in illustrative art.

I've also liked the rich darkness of the old Baroque art. and the darker Frazetta stuff. Jason Manley had a self portrait posted some time ago that was really dark and you cold only make out the features bathed in light, but if you looked into the dark areas there was a complete portrait in there. That's what I was trying to do with this one was to leave some dark areas with actual stuff going on in there, that made want to look in.

So thanks for you input, I do appreciate it.

I did some changes after Jon opened a can o whoop ass on me. I addressed some of the other issues everyone else was pointing out as well.

Loved the first one, but that leg coming forward towards the fire does great things for this pic!

Looks good ... I think the ribcage definition on Conan is a little too intense .. right now it is sort of trapping my eye.

Nice work Mitch

Remember the way skin sits over muscle, you will hardly ever see it having such jagged values.
