View Full Version : CS3 smoothing issue

Just installed CS3 today but noticed a problem right away. I'm using a Wacom Intuos 2 that I've had for awhile. I keep getting these weird jagged edges when doing smooth circles (as seen below). My tablet is free of dirt or grit, and I have the default settings going in PS including the smoothing option on the brush tool.

I opened the same size canvas in CS2 and did a similar experiment to make sure it wasn't a "steady hand issue", but there were no jaggies.

Anybody have any idea as to what could be happening?

alot of people used to get that with cs2 and previous versions of photoshop and it ended up being a driver issue...

make sure you're using the latest wacom drivers along with cs3.

keep us updated and see if that works because i've been looking at the cs stuff, using old ps here.

Yeah, it had been awhile since I've done a driver update. The newest one came out in Feb. I'm not sure if it addresses this issue specifically (don't really see how since CS3 just came out, and I never had a problem with CS2) but it ended up working. Either way, it works which is awesome. ;)

Ok, so now I'm noticing that I'm having this problem again even after a driver update. I'm also now experiencing the same issue in CS2 which never happened to me before.

Anybody else having weird issues?

Well one issue I had reported to Wacom is that versions CS and above have problems detecting multiple tablets. I can install the first one fine, pressure sensitivity, and everything. The second one will have pressure sensitivity but the eraser function does not detect on the second tablet.

I own 2 intuos 3 of different sizes so I'm not happy about this problem because I use one tablet for travel and one for home so it helps if they both work.

So yeah.

After a little experimenting, I've figured out that if my tablet is unplugged when I start my comp, and then plugged in after the tablet drivers load at startup, I'm in the clear. Kind of a strange way to go about it cause I'd much rather leave my tablet plugged in at all times like I used to, but it'll have to do for now.

Hopefully Wacom will do another driver update in the near future to cope with these miscellaneous problems associated with CS3.

I got a response back from Wacom about my multiple tablet issue in case anyone else has this problem:

PS CS has only correctly been recognizing the first pen used so it is not a surprise that there are issues with the second pen. Actually Adobe is aware of the issue and are working on it.
