Get back on the horse WIP

Hi guys,
I've been painting on this on and off at work when I have downtime, I'd love some crit!

ok, it deifinitely needs more clarity. the body and its forward left leg kinda blend together into one big mass, it took me a bit to see the upper part of its leg.

its back [lower] half seems more like a bear's body and hind legs though.. not too horse-like. and the head seems a bit too low on the neck.

great concept, definitely worth fixing and polishing. keep at it - JAG

Very nice concept - if this is what the horse looks like after you have fallen off, I would agree - hard to get on again... :\

I don't agree - the shape of the horse is there, but it's too mushy and undefined to be easily made out (perhaps my monitor is lighter calibrated than JAGs), so if you where to define it some more, I'd say it's cool. The front legs definitly needs some more work - the closer leg is too blended to the rest of the body, just like JAG mentioned, and the other one looks like it is splayed out too far to the right of the horse (plus too melded with the background). Would also love to see some teeth on the horsie, just to make it even more beast like... but that's just me. ;)

Anyway, keep going, I'm really curious to see the outcome of this! :}

Hi guys,
Thanks so much for the feedback, I'm chipping away at refining things as I get free time, I think I'm at about 8 hours on this piece now.
Jag, I refined the back legs some but I'm also looking to make this a drafthorse demon, I've been looking at mostly percherons and gypsy vanner horses for reference.
Thinking about teeth too dragonsnail, but that's a bridge yet to cross on this. :)

the hind legs already look better.. a bit more of that and they'll be great. it doesnt seem like you adjusted the head any though.. dont over-look that.. its just a bit low it seems - JAG

To be honest the head looks more liek a lions than a horse type creature. I woudl suggesting elongating the muzzle/snout whateverit's called...

Haha, Jag your icon looks so skeptical. I mucked with the neck and head some though. :D
