in my sculpture class at school we have been working on a hand sculpture. we first dipped our hand in wax to make a wax mold. next we will pour plaster into those wax molds and then paint our finished hand or do whatever we wish.

I have had tons of hand ideas floating around for the past few months, even before we started this project-which has given me even more ideas, and gave me the quite obvious idea of make a mold from wax- and I'd like some suggestions.

I'm pretty new to the sculpture area of art and aren't aware yet of everything that is out there. I'm looking for some different ideas on what I could fill a wax mold with instead of plaster. I would like to have a few different ideas on what the material of my hand sculptures could be, cause I'd really like to start letting my ideas flow into actually sculptures. if anyone knows of some different things please let me kno, its appreciated :]
thanks

Try gelatine mix, its used a lot in special effects and gives a very nice translucent look, pait it with oil paints or silicone mixed paints .

heres a link I found for the formula but you can goolge more if you like

be aware that it can be hot! this may melt your wax depending on its melt temperature

You can use 2 part foams or plastics but these can be expencive.
Try smoothon products

good luck
