Hello everyone!

First off, Im new to the forums (post-wise that is). I have been browsing around here for the past couple of weeks and I really like what I've been seeing. Not just the art, and the tutorials, but the criticism, and the helpful atmosphere that is expressed by the members.

So I figured Id join and post some of my stuff just to get a bit of criticism.

Please note that I am self taught. Especially this past year after getting a boring watchdog job that allows me to sit and draw all day. So all of the stuff I draw comes from observation and applications. Never had a class, or attended a seminar (Im not sure if this is shunned or not :)). Just thought this bit of knowledge might help in advance for critiquing.

These are my most recent "works." And Ill try and update when I can. I dont have a scanner in my appartment, but I have access to one at my moms house.

So please enjoy if you can, and thanks in advance for any comments and/or critiques. (Critiques are very welcome so dont be shy.)

Also I almost forgot, a bit of explanation about the drawings. The hooded figure was just a fantasy character idea I kind of had. Its cliche I know, but i had fun drawing it. Optimus prime is... optimus prime. My childhood. The orc and troll are sort of my interpretations of the famed Blizzard concepts. And the flamed picture is sort of a pictoral interpretation of the song Pardon Me by Incubus. Its also a self portrait.

Thanks again!

Oh and I just found these. I forgot I had them.

Ive tried working on the computer with photoshop. But it is just too hard to really do with a mouse. Im waiting and saving up for an intuos. Maybe a cintiq if by the time i have some money rolling in my art has really taken a strong influence in my life.

Because of the difficulties i have with a mouse, i decided to not try and make it look perfect, but to try and make it look like a sketch. The second attempt was to see if i had improved at all. I think i did a bit.

The first attempt at a photoshop portrait is the one with purple sleeves.

The second attempt is the one with teal sleeves.

Not bad at all
You should work a little bit on your anatomy
cheers

hey thanks!

yeah the anatomy is off in those drawings for a couple reasons, a) they are 2 months old, and b) i wanted to really exaggerate the shoulders on both of the warcraft characters.

but i got scanner today, so here are my actual new pieces! :)

again, comments and critiques are very welcome. moreso the critiques because thats how i learn. :)

so a little 411 on the images uploaded in this post.

the first is donatello, its the first in a series that i want to work on: my interpretation of various TMNT characters. i was inspired by the movie. and the fact that i grew up with them. this is the first drawing ive done with a back/foreground. i dont like the clouds and water, and i dont know how to make them look any better. but overall i like the drawing.

the next two i actually got the ideas for in browsing these forums. more specifically the tunderdome challenges. the challenges were 80s interpretations (i did skeletor) and battle of the gods (the ever cliche thor, by himself... battling nobody :)) im pretty much done with these two, i seem to have lost my motivation for them.

and the last 2 are the second and third additions to the abovementioned series. im not working on them right now as i had an idea for a neat self portrait that is in the works. but when im done with that ill finish these two.

thanks for looking! :)
