When I started drawing (couple of months ago) and drawing from life or picture I could see right away the resemblance. However recently, my eyes getting sharper everyday, I have to leave the drawing away a couple of minute to see the resemblance. While I draw, I cannot see a perfect match. I've drawn some friends and it does look like them, but just after I leave the drawing away for a couple of minute.

So I'm curious, is this normal or is just my perception? I am looking for any answers or solution.

Cheers

I think it's normal. While you're drawing you're wrapped up in technical stuff. You need to step back constantly to check the "higher level" things like the composition likenesses, what needs fixing in general, etc. In fact, I think the more you do this stepping back (literally and figuratively)- switching back and forth between that and the "work" mode- the better your results will be.
