I really like the look of this guy, his general appearance and costume. The anatomy you've designed for him is pretty convincing, but the one area you need to work on most is creating a believable space for him to exist in. This is partially the result of the values and colors you've rendered him with and the foreshortening of the body parts.
It looks like you're intending him to be stepping forward with his right leg and swinging his left arm forward simultaneously (regular, natural, movement). I think the easiest way to accomplish this would be to adjust the perspective on the left arm and change the axe arm's color. Left hand: from the position of the upper arm, it looks like the elbow should be pointing slightly away from the viewer, but the hand looks like it's pointing downwards. Show us more of the front of his fist. Right hand (axe hand): by using the same colors on his glove as on the rest of his tunic, it appears to be in the same plane. If you use slightly darker and bluer colors at the wrist it'll look more like it extends behind the body.
I hope this helps and I look forward to seeing more!

Brendan,
yeah i agree that the axe hand could use some value change. Nice idea.
Hm about the other things. His left forearm is slightlybent downards while the hand is facing down. Even if its not depectied with anatomy precision i think it works if you think about how his arm and hand is facing.
Also he is not moving at all. He is standing firm.
Thx for your comments m8!

this drawing has a lot of potenial.....I like that you started a white highlight on the axe......I think the drawing could use a bit more to push volume....but don't over do it. Just my two cents

hey thx guys. Ill keep this in mind for the next image. Contrast is a real bugger for me when painting with colors. Perhaps it has something to do with my initial sketch or something. But anyways ill try to think more in values next time.
THx!
