Hey guys, mabe you remember this other sketch (http://images.deviantart.com/large/indyart/indymisc/awpeye.jpg) that was inspired by Ashley wood. I decided to use el coro's method shown in his miner tut. And well, this is what I got so far.

This whole thing is done on canson paper.
I'm in the last step of the tut. At least i hope....:)

I'd appreciate any constructive crits and comments.

Thanks for the inspiration coro. ;)

[EDIT] I just noticed that one of the eyes is lower than other. Damnit......

Yes this is the coolest thing i have seen from you, im really impressed, i didnt know you were capable of achieving this level of work....the only thing i would have to say is add more tones in there, dont be shy.. its always good to try new things, i bet ur happy with the results because its lookin good.

ooohh one more thing, the cheek bone seems kinda off so u might wanna lower it and bring it in more.

I am pretty happy so far, and I'll try out adding more tones.

This is one of the best things I´ve seen so far from you. Great stuff, you´re improving at high speed! His rght eye seems to be out of line but beside this I´ve got nothing to crit.

Keep on the good work!

oh wow, my girl (http://www.thegook.com/illustrations/cables.jpg) finally has a suitable mate? a great couple they would make!

oskar, this is really nice! what little i've seen of your digital work has been pretty good, but it seems like traditional media suits you better? at least at this point.

the first reading is very strong. the big head thingy draws my eye to the facial material and it stays there for the most part cause the face is done so well.

niggling things:

like fipse said, his right eye is way wacky, you can try to fix it or you can sorta obliterate it with shadow or abstract marks so it looks like it was done on purpose. it's the one thing that needs to be addressed in my opinion. the other things mentioned, like the cheekbone, ain't too big a deal.

there is a tangency thing going on with his jawline and the collar of his shirt, it's hard to tell which is which. making the collar more pronounced or irregular (so it doesn't follow the contour of the jaw) might help with that.

things get a little wonky with the big 'protrusion' too but for the most part it works as a stylistic element. the spike too, i'm not sure what that is about? distracting. there seems to be some energy marks or abstraction going on, i think they are a little here nor there. are they real things or just random marks? mark making in itself is an art so try to keep that in mind when u'r going nuts on the canvas/paper/what-have-u.

as for adding more tone, i don't know about that. i think you stopped where you did for a reason. i like how it reads right now, especially the detail cause i'm assuming it was scanned unlike the main image which seems to have been photographed with poor lighting? (looks faded compared to the detail) i wouldn't go futzing around with it too much unless you were positive there needed to be 'change'.

:)

hope this wasn't too crit heavy oskar, cause i like it a lot. there are a whole lot more going for it than not, it's just hard to write about the good things without sounding like an ass-patter.

cheers,
steve

thanks guys. Your crits reallyl helped out.

Your reply is perfect steve. Not to heavy on the criting either.

I'm going to fix the eye, and work on that collar tangency. Those marks are just random fun marks. I still want to add the oils here and there to clean it up some.

When I was doing it, I was throwing lines all over the place, and just having fun. I like it now, but I want to refine a couple of areas.

I'll post the finished version tomorrow.

BTW your girl and my guy would go together. Great job on her ;)
