amazing work. the only nitpick i would have is that in the image with the woman in the throne, I first read the pillow she's sitting on as a very large thigh, and only after looking for details did i read it as a pillow. It's not a major thing, but if you were to maybe shift it to red, it would make this area easier to read

Utterly fantasic! You've sold at least one copy of the magazine. I agree with Isric about the pillow. I had the same problem. Amazing!

Really nice interpretations of a mermaid, enchanting but deadly. The last one is also a killer piece. Five stars for sure.

holy shit, that black jack betty thing is awesome, any chance you could post a larger version? Your DC cards are pretty cool, bizarro looks a little too cartoony for my taste, but it's still great.

Really great mermaids especially the top one!

Nice job with the mermaids. Although the chunky tail on the blue mermaid makes it look a bit more animated than it should be. Maybe if it were thin or transparent, but I'm just nitpicking. I really like how it's very goth pin-up-like. Good job.

For some strange reason, at the time of writing this, this thread has 3 stars which is simply just silly.
The Blackjack Betty graphic novel cover alone is five star material, not to mention the other jewels in this thread.
Who publishes the Vs. cards? How did you go about getting work with them? Its just that I've seen a few CA members have worked on this game and its building up my curiousity.

Thanks for posting.

Hey, thanks for stopping by folks! :)

Jason~ Big up to Massive Black! Thanks for the comments dude, hope you and the rest of the crew are doing well.

stalsby~ Thanks for the kind words, I spent a long time on that chair! Should have some new work I can show soon. :)

N8!~ Thanks doggy! It's almost drinking time. Get ready to get fallin' down drunk in July buddy!

polterge!st~ Thanks!

Chupacabra~ Hey thanks man. I really hope you dig the issue!

bradyscott~ Thanks for the comment. Glad you like the new work. :)

Infinit~ Thank you!

Isric~ I appreciate the feedback dude, thanks for the complements too. I never really looked at the pillow that way. I guess I was so busy thinking about keeping the thrown in a black&white color scheme, that I didn't notice the values were so similar between her leg and the pillow. Good eye. Making the pillow red would definitely help separate things more in that area. I might just have to change that... Thanks again.

BC1967~ Thank you for the kind words and supporting the cause! Pillow crit noted. :)

timothee~ Thanks!

Howard~ Hey bro, how have you been? It's been too long since we caught up. Thanks for being so gracious with your complements man, means a lot to me. You still living in the Phoenix area?

Chuck, mate.~ Thanks glad you dig em! The detail on the armor was done by simply drawing in a bunch of random swirlys and designs. Took a while, but it's not a very complicated process, just have to have a lil' patience. I've posted the original drawing below to give you a better idea of what I'm talking about. Thanks again!

Molly~ Just been hiding in my cave. I should have some more stuff to share soon. Thanks so much for the kind words! :)

ElvisMcVegas~ Thanks for the comments. Sure, I can post up a high res cut-out of the piece for you. Glad you dig the DC stuff too, even if Bizarro's a bit too cartoony for ya. ;)

Living Rope~ Thanks man! Issue 0 should be out before the end of the year!!! I'm so fuckin' stoked.

Oobar~ Thanks!

Sleep_Eden_sleep~ Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, I was going for something different than I usually see in mermaid illos. I was trying to make them a little more believable... So I gave her a bigger more powerful tail, because I figured she might need it to efficiently propel her body through the water. I can see where you're coming from though. I guess in the end it boils down to a personal taste issue. Thanks again for commenting.

Djohnston~ Thanks for being so kind. Stars, shmars... I pay no attention to that rating system crap. I do appreciate you thinking there's fault with the rating being low on my thread however. :) The cards are done for a DC Comics card game called Vs. System and are produced and distributed by Upper Deck. The set my illustrations are included in is entitled "World's Finest 7th Wave" and you should be able to pick them up at any comic shop, book store, or any other place Upper Deck cards are sold. Thanks again! :)

Here's the drawing for that Blackjack Betty piece.

Good work! Nice texturing.

There's alot of good ideas behind your work. And I think those pieces can be very strong if:
1, The focal point is not always in the center. Many artist place the main subject matter slightly to the left or right and they still the focus of the piece.
2, More foreground, middle ground and background element. Now it's kinda flat, meaning they're pretty much close to the view, not much other stuff showing the scale etc. Except the first one.
3, Don't be lazy on your designs. Some stuff you have here tends to be generic or has been done numbers of time. For example, the mermaid and the SLAP. If you want to do a mermaid, make sure you come up with something that is totally unique and interesting, not just another ordinary mermaid. Same to the SLAP. I like the "Blackjack Betty graphic novel" piece because it has more interesting shapes on the chair. Although there are still rooms for creativity.

overall they are good starts, keep it up :)
