i know there is a thread for everybody favourite art books, but i was wondering if anybody could recommend a good colour theory book with useful exercises in it.

Color by Betty Edwards: A Course in Mastering the Art of Mixing Colors

This is a great book with great exercises in color harmonies and will teach you all of the properties of color that you will need to know to mix well.

The New Munsell Student Color Set should help for seeing and identifying colors.
