Um, anyways, who was that artist you mentioned you were studying for composition during your drawing demo at the Con? I didn't get to write the name down...

madsamoan-heh, I will be in contact with Tom shortly...the artist(s) I mentioned studying composition...From the books, Henry Rankin Poore, from classes, Marshall Vanderuff at Fullerton, and Ken Auster in Laguna. Both these guys are right on the money about everything they talk about concerning elimination of things distracting, etc.

Then of course, there is sebastian. He is the man, and he already told me everything these previous guys have mentioned and more, but its good to hear it again from someone else very reputable.

from life, and a good school to help grow your eyes...on your own, tutorials by good people, and lots of life painting. Mileage.....from life you learn what it is all about, from images, you have to make some of it up. Working from digital images you shot works ok too since the medium is about light...

Thanks Ron. Appreciate the response!!! It is very frustrating learning by myself however i am slowly learning. There are not a lot of life drawing courses around here but I will go to those that I can and can afford. Its my last year in highschool, so I am hoping to learn how to paint better as well as improve overall.

Painting is one of my passions and I wont give up!!! I can only paint from pictures and from imagination for so long before you notice that something is missing :).

I'm flattered right back and a little shocked. I'm not particularly well known in the field, though perhaps you've been keeping up with me at the comicon in SD. Your sketches in the "quick sketches from life are lovely as well"...You have a great fluid and graphic sense.....get a web site up!
