April 14th, 2007, 10:58 PM
good work as everyone else said. the crops on 1 & 6 could probably be better, but hey, greak stuff
April 14th, 2007, 11:32 PM
Very nice, I love 3 and 4.
May 9th, 2007, 05:34 AM
oh gosh!!!!these photos of yours are totally breathtaking....!!!!keep up the good work....
May 9th, 2007, 06:27 AM
12. Headphones are Stylish.
It's amaizing to see the power of Apple in fashion :P
Good start, welcome to CA
May 9th, 2007, 12:41 PM
I really like the fashion shots, but as someone previously mentioned the cropping on the first picture could be better - include all her hair. And also the fourth shot - the knee seems to be just a little too close to the edge.
May 10th, 2007, 11:05 PM
Thanks all. Some more.
14. Thirteen Tales: Redemption
16. Newspapers are good for you.
May 11th, 2007, 03:13 AM

These are amazing, I can't find anything really to crit :(
May 11th, 2007, 04:43 AM
13, 14, 15 are great great great. :)
August 15th, 2007, 01:42 AM
Hey hey~ been a while. Here're some slightly more recent stuffs.
20. Something beautiful.
21. Something beautiful. II
August 15th, 2007, 02:03 AM
My fav is #18. I love the contrast and the striking look. :)
I like 19 as well, but I feel it could have been a bit more creative in the composition.
20 and 21 make a nice set, but I feel the white shapes flanking the sides in 21 overpower and distract from the subject.
August 15th, 2007, 07:26 AM
Your stuff is amazing. I want to try portrait and fashion photography someday and you're a big inspiration. I've already fav'd most of these over at Deviantart but in particular, Headphones are Stylish, Thirteen Tales: Redemption and Prelude are my favourites.
August 15th, 2007, 05:25 PM
fantastic work, great idea with the newspapers
August 17th, 2007, 02:09 AM
The newspaper dress shot nails it for me so does 14 and 18 great work
August 18th, 2007, 03:44 PM
Stunning new photos! I love your work a lot.
August 22nd, 2007, 04:40 AM
Thirteen tales redemption is fantastic, I love the pose.
August 22nd, 2007, 01:45 PM
Very nice! Nr. 12 is my favourite one.
August 23rd, 2007, 05:43 PM
The first face is unique!!! You have a lot of great photos, very professional and a lot of nice models!!!
Here is my vote for you, 5 stars! Bravo!!!
August 25th, 2007, 08:49 PM

im very impressed
September 4th, 2007, 05:53 AM
i'm in love..

thank you for sharing.
here's my photo jurney.. i've just started :)
September 7th, 2007, 11:06 AM
I really enjoyed looking at those pictures!
thank you for showing them :)
September 20th, 2007, 03:07 AM
helo~ long time no see. it's me again. did some slightly different stuffs lately..~ ^^
22. Fluid Grace
September 20th, 2007, 03:37 AM
I like fluid grace, she looks so much like a stone statue, work of art
September 20th, 2007, 04:10 AM
Holysmokes! Fluid Grace is a revelation! Fantastic lighting and pose. Crazy tonal range. Argh!
I am, however, really unhappy about her hair being cropped off. I am certain that this was a deliberate choice, so yea... you had your reasons. It's just that I disagree...:D Actually I want to see all of that pose in that light, from foot til that last bit of unsubstantial Auralight over her head!
September 21st, 2007, 01:02 AM
hehe hey guys thanks! i'm glad you liked that. it's from one of my most recent shoots.
Mr. Mu: I cropped it a little to help balance the composition. I'd loved to have taken some full bodies, but time was short. I only had 15frames to take this lol. I'll try next time, to capture some full bodies like this ones. It's been a while since I took movement shots. x)
September 21st, 2007, 01:45 AM
Zemotion, you have some beautiful work here. There's not a whole lot of photography that really strikes me, and yours is one of the first to do so. My favorites are in those first 12 though :rendered: (1,3,6,11,12). Can't wait to see future works! Keep it up!
September 22nd, 2007, 04:28 AM
Brandon_Herring: I'm glad to hear that~ thank you so much! Will update again soon! =3
October 3rd, 2007, 05:12 PM
saw you submissions you just posted - have to echo the others - really nice stuff
I dont supposed you can do a very brief description of how you're setting up the lights in your studio shots in your future posts?..would help a lot :)
Some may be very obvious but just wanted to get an idea of how you approach these
October 4th, 2007, 10:27 AM
Rascar Capac: Thanks! Well all of them are really simple actually, these aren't advertising and I'm a person who'd love to settle for the easiest possible means when possible for my team, though the result is I spend more time on DI haha.
Most of the lit shots are one light source, very few have two (one main one fill), and that's about it. Ask me which one you'd like to know and I'll tell you, they're all really simple. :)
October 4th, 2007, 11:59 AM
There's some really nice stuff in there. I like the general mood of Your photos. I'm really after 24, it's very graphic. Are any of them commercial work or is it all Your personal stuff? Do You use digital camera or film one?
October 21st, 2007, 07:06 AM
I like the photos from post#28. They are the most expressive!
October 21st, 2007, 02:24 PM
Simply Stunning. I enjoyed your website as well, can't get enough :)
October 22nd, 2007, 08:46 AM
Sooo impressive and expressive. You are an inspiration. Thank you.
November 9th, 2007, 08:17 PM
I said it to you on DeviantArt, I say it to you here. I love your work :)
November 10th, 2007, 08:02 AM
I love your work.
Absolutely wonderful stuff. I have no input at all other than admiration.
November 10th, 2007, 11:23 AM
Hey guys! Thanks so much for all the comments. I haven't been around so much these few days... busy stopping school. :P
pazur: All of these are personal work, but from here onward I'll mention when I do something for clients~ I use digital, a Canon 5D, but some shots are taken with a Hasselblad H3D. ^^ I also have a rolliecord which I don't use so often because it's really difficult to find a good lab that can develop the films the way I want them to, I dont know how to do it myself so I used to have a friend do it for me..
iatriki: thank you! I'm glad you find it so!
Yumiko: Thanks for dropping by! I'll update more often here... hope to see your site up soon too. =3
HuBBaTheMan: Thank you too. ^^
John.D: <3 thank you so much for the support~
Jason Manley: Thank you, I'm so flattered to receive such a comment from you. :D
So guys here're some more. The last 2 self portraits are the newest. I was in need of new profile photos so I did a session since haven't done any since February. The Forgotten Fairytales is a little series I'm doing... Promise is from a short photo comic and Treasure Innocence was a test shoot for a client before we had our actual on location. Hope you enjoy~ ^^
25. Forgotten Fairytales
26. Forgotten Fairytales II
27. Promise - from a short photocomic story i'm working on
28. Treasure Innocence
29. Treasure Innocence II
And here're 2 recent self portraits~ :D
30. A Silent Melody
November 10th, 2007, 12:51 PM
25 26 27 28 are defontly my fav. can i ask how and were you got your model from?
25 is a great photo. i like the sharpness of the image and also the actual pose.
the last two really don't do it for me how ever 30 is good, 32 however is just a tad to light in the wrong place. I would have gone for the intense light at the top left hand side.
I do think your work is great though so keep them cooming
November 10th, 2007, 06:52 PM
No problem, they really are great photos :) 8 and 14 are my favourites. I recognise 8 from some where, has it been posted elsewhere other than here and DevArt?
I really want to love 22, but I just can't help but feel her 'elbow' is out of place. I mean i'm guessing it's not her elbow right? Because that would be an impossible pose. I think it's just the way the shadows settle there.
November 10th, 2007, 09:03 PM
Treasure Innocence II is absolutely spectacular, the rest are merely amazing :D. I'd love to see some H3D work, especially a photo of stupidly large print! (what else do you need all those megapickles for?)
November 10th, 2007, 10:14 PM
samsite999: thanks, some were friends and some from model agencies that i work with. :)
John.D: #8 is my profile photo almost everywhere for a while! :P I'd already toned down her elbow's hardness/shadows q by quite a bit. I felt that if I did more it would be quite... unreal? ^^;
klips: we have actually done trials of large prints! (not from the H3D though). 33x44"
November 10th, 2007, 11:07 PM
November 11th, 2007, 01:58 AM
25 is fantastic. and the tones in 29...man, loving the tones in 29
November 11th, 2007, 10:17 AM
I'm planning to buy prints of 8 and 14 from DevArt, although i'm not sure what the service is like. I'm from the UK, and they say they don't have tracking or insurance etc. How have you found the service if you've bought something from there yourself Zemotion?
November 11th, 2007, 01:15 PM
i am constantly learning from you :) I hope next time on Nov. 1st you'll join us for a Self Portrait. (see the editorial). Thank you so much for the update and the comments.
Comming to the Seattle workshop?
November 12th, 2007, 02:46 AM
I really love the moods and stories behind #25 (especially the lighting) & #27. In #27, the white area behind her head distracts me a bit.
I like #30, but I agree with Sam a bit about the light; the tones are a bit too flat.
November 12th, 2007, 10:07 AM
John.D: I'm not sure about it... I've only purchased once by myself. So far I havent heard any complaints so I guess it's fine.
I have heard issues of artists not being paid, since you don't know who purchase, sometimes when people did tell an artist they bought a print and the artist never received that particular payment, DA said because there was an error with the site and thus they couldn't find the record and pay... or something like that. hahaha. I don't know anything about it since very rarely people tell me they purchased a print. ~_~
Oblio: Sorry? I'm a bit lost... Not sure what you're talking about... ^^;
purplerose: I agree too, haha. I like #30 enough to post it, I'll likely reshoot it with a model instead for better control. :)
November 12th, 2007, 06:33 PM
some original ideas (I really like pic no 1 in this thread :))) and on all pics really nice models and if that self potrait is your then you are a truly beautiful woman
November 14th, 2007, 01:58 PM
#33. Dark Angel.
November 16th, 2007, 08:46 AM
argh.. argh.. argh.. argh... =)
must.. turn... despair... into.. inspiration.....
AWESOME quality on the last two shot (not that the previous were any less =)
Would you care to share a bit on the technical aswell as conceptual side on especially the last shot?
November 17th, 2007, 07:50 PM
Loving the last one Zemotion. Awesome work :)
November 18th, 2007, 07:25 PM
Nice stuff! Really Crisp, the right amount of shadows.. and colors seem to be top notch. have some questions for you though:
1.Do you have a team getting clothes/makeup ready for you? (Also where do they get such eloquent dresses?)
2.Do you pay the models or do they stand for free?
3.What kind of lights do you use? (Tungesten, Normal Bulbs, etc..)
November 19th, 2007, 06:36 PM
You got pimped! :) http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=92314&page=2
November 19th, 2007, 06:41 PM
HuBBaTheMan: #33 Dark Angel was taken together with Prelude as a test shoot/recce for the Forgotten Fairytales series. I took it with 5D and 28-135mm lens (I usually only bring 50mm f1.4 and 28-135 for convenience when I shoot outdoor).
Natural light, with a very little bit of fill with a silver board for the face. Concept wise... nothing too deep to this one, just wanted to explore around with the location/framing possibilities since this is more of a test for the later shoot. I could write a little story for the image but no, there wasn't one that was planned beforehand.
John.D: Thank you! By the way I'm having my prints sale for this 2 weeks until the 5th. So if you were looking to get prints around this period of time do it now. ^^
claudeEGYPT: Hey thanks. :) To answer your questions:
1. Yes and no. I usually like working alone, but depending on the scale of a shoot, sometimes I will have others helping me out. I want to control styling most of the time because it's my set and it plays a large role. I have yet to find a good stylist so it's all my job now. I do 50% of the makeup for my shoots, but if I foresee it to be a long session I'll usually get a makeup/hair person to help me out so I don't tire myself out too much and can concentrate on photography alone. Back to styling, most of the dresses are from my collection (bought or made by myself). The one in #33 was made by my ex-classmate. I got 2 girls together with me to work on it, I did the general direction and supervised for the production of 3 dresses.
2. No I do not pay them. :)
3. I use mainly a 1kw tungsten light. I do rather emotive work (or so I'd like to think). I feel that flashes tire out a model more and is very distracting... I do use flashes sometimes though (eg: #17, #18, #22). Mostly Profoto. The textures and quality of light are really quite different, I prefer the tungsten more but it is too restrictive as there aren't really any light modifiers to play around with.
Hope that answers~ Feel free to ask me anything. :)
*edit* oops Oblio I just saw your post. Took me very long to write mine lol. Thank you so much!!
November 20th, 2007, 04:54 AM
Back to styling, most of the dresses are from my collection (bought or made by myself)
That is outrageous! How can you be that good at two professions?!
November 20th, 2007, 05:28 AM
I'm not that good! Hehe I took fashion design until mid Oct this year, but really I just couldn't find myself loving menswear so I've stopped to focus on photography now. :P
Alien Ape Star
November 20th, 2007, 05:56 AM
Hello, Zemotion! Nice to find u again. A while back I found your photos on deviant art and was amazed... :^^: I was so inspired when I have seen one of your photos that I actually painted an portrait in watercolor using your photo as reference. I hope that does not bother you... or upsets you in any way. Here is a link to the watercolor drawing ----> http://www.conceptart.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=152789&stc=1&d=1181739671
I also graduated from a fashion design college in Bucharest, in july, last year so I can look at your photos with a bit more comprehensive apreciation
Also, check out my sketchbook thread, I have a few fashion sketches around there :^^;: :hat:
November 20th, 2007, 06:00 AM
Heya, nice to see you ^^
Thanks for the link, not bothered in any way. She looks like an Alien, in a cute way :P
Alien Ape Star
November 20th, 2007, 06:46 AM
He he! thanx! I`m glad u like it and that u are not bothered by it! Actually your photo inspired me a supra human being a godess, a fairy or an alien of some sort. Mostly because of the eyes! Fantastic eyes! Was she wearing contact lens or those are her real eyes?
November 20th, 2007, 06:55 AM
Hehehe I see i see. interesting interpretation. :) She didn't wear contacts, it's just slightly retouched. ^^
I'm feeling a little sleep deprived, so pardon if my typing and grammar's all mixed up. Somehow with or without school it doesn't feel like the workload will ever end. I'm going to Bangkok this friday for the southeast asian games, participating in rifle events. Hopefully it will be a good time to recover. Anyone in Bangkok? XD
Here's one more done over the weekend:
#34 The Midnight Game.
November 20th, 2007, 06:58 AM
that is an amazing image.. superb!! very clever indeed...
Alien Ape Star
November 20th, 2007, 07:05 AM
WOW! LOLITAS! very nice! :bashful: Nice composition! And your models ar amazing. I adore asian doll faces!
November 21st, 2007, 02:59 AM
diggin the cards. The most interesting part about this image for me is that I am used to seeing Japanese girls dressed up like this, but these girls don't look very Japanese. At least not the 2 in the background, but maybe I'm wrong... Anyway cool stuff.
December 2nd, 2007, 03:22 AM
2 more. :D
#36. of Light.
December 2nd, 2007, 04:34 AM
the skintones in 32 are incredible, great treatment overall
December 2nd, 2007, 05:57 AM
#35 features a beautiful pose, crop, setting and lighting. Amazing concept.
Something I don't really get is the stark core shadow on the shoulder. The light in general looks very even and soft and then there's this patch of darkness... did you dodge that down or something?
last one is just a frickin pro looking shot for stylish and exorbitantly expensive designer clothing...:D
December 2nd, 2007, 08:22 AM
You inspired me, thank you!!!
December 2nd, 2007, 10:46 AM
whoa these are stunning, nice shots! I especially love your avatar one, it really speaks to me.
December 2nd, 2007, 07:05 PM
Beautiful ....... the way u approach ur subjects is fantastic!
December 3rd, 2007, 01:48 PM
I really like #35. :)
Kinda wish the clothes weren't cut off in #36 though.
December 8th, 2007, 04:00 AM
Hey guys, it's me again. :D
Thanks for all the comments.
Mr. Mu: The shadows over the shoulder didn't really bother me that much. I guess it's from the fill and main light that pushed it, but because the model's a little plump I'd thought it nicer to sculpt the body a little more. I'll look at it a little more and see if I should lighten it. Last one was commissioned by my exclassmates for their assessment presentation. I hope the lecturers would think like you do!
purplerose: hehe my bad. didn't notice.
Here's something done before the previous 3-4 shots, somewhere in Oct.
For a local jewellery designer. I had posted the test shoot earlier on in page2 I think. I wasn't supposed to release these until the site launches but it's almost done so I reckon it's fine to put up now since she gave the go ahead. One of my favorite sets till today.
December 8th, 2007, 10:40 AM
#34 The Midnight Game.
I wasn't here to comment on this one so I will now....HARAJUKU GIRLS. Awesome. Seriously awesome. :]
Your pictures are FANTASTIC. You're making me a bit jealous XD. Beautiful though. Truly. :] Can you tell I have no words to describe your work? :P
December 9th, 2007, 01:19 AM
truly amazing photography. 24. M is my favorite because its just so otherworldly, and it seems to be one those pictures that truly reveal the marvel of the human body.
December 9th, 2007, 10:33 PM
I really like #41.
December 9th, 2007, 11:41 PM
you really are getting some beautiful skin tones. I'm curious about the processing. Does it involve taking down the saturation and bumping up the clarity? I haven't really explored RAW very much, and this is really gorgeous processing.
December 10th, 2007, 05:29 AM
December 10th, 2007, 05:33 AM
all of the above are beautiful, but #37 is taking jewellery photography onto a whole new level.
I am even wondering if some clients of such a photo might not object to it because you are awed by the image as such and tend to ignore the fact there's jewellery in there, LOL
December 11th, 2007, 05:54 AM
Thanks for the comments everyone! ^^
eazym: Thanks, actually I don't always have a set workflow... I think some images look good sharp, some better soft. It's just personal taste and feeling about how I process each of them...
Mr. Mu: I've shown some people the images, I think it strikes a good balance between showcasing my work and the jewellery without taking attention off the model. Clients are generally happy so far. XD
And some boy shots:
December 11th, 2007, 07:02 AM
Hey There - Great works! I love #37 - so beautiful and timeless. keep rocking out
December 14th, 2007, 09:20 PM
#34 and #35 are SO SWEET! These are the types of shots one day I will get to! I just loved these pics! So awesome! Great way to take these pics there is something about them that I really like! I duno! Keep posting!
December 16th, 2007, 09:00 AM
been a fan of you work on DA, obviously ill have to subscribe to this too :)
December 18th, 2007, 06:54 AM
love your light. good luck with your travels.
how come this thread is missing a star? 5 from me dammit!
December 19th, 2007, 08:16 AM
Ok. Zen... seriously.. 42 & 43 are the best use of proper high key lighting ive ever seen. Very well done (as usual when it comes to you :P
And here's a star from me aswell =)
December 19th, 2007, 11:21 AM
Glad I found this thread, thanks to Oblio for advertise it before.
There so many good pictures here, like the expression on #37 to #41. Can't crit anything for now. Hope to see some more.
December 21st, 2007, 12:30 AM
wow all of these are great but I like 1,8,13,15 and 35... realllly like 15. It has that kind of clarity I like. People have different taste on lighting and such but I think the lighting is really nice in most of them as well as great editing.
<thinks about throwing away his nikon and sticking to stick figure drawing>
December 21st, 2007, 12:39 AM
Thanks all~~~ Thanks so much. n_n
Lan: Please don't say that. :P
Continuing from #34. The Midnight Game - The Beginning,
#44. The Twins.
Caramel still needs a little revision, wasn't one of my favorites but the girls really liked it, so I've put them in. =3
And here, something like a dream of a forgotten fairytale, almost a little like Christmas.
Thank you for the comments so far~ I really value your opinions. ^_^ Here I wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy new year. <3
December 21st, 2007, 01:23 AM
great work with the light values on the last one
December 21st, 2007, 01:00 PM
What nationality are your models?
I really like kagetsuki (deviant id). She has a really great face and emotion for serious photos. I'd like to see a few of her smiling though.
December 21st, 2007, 09:25 PM
Beautiful side-by-side masculine lighting on 42/43, and I really like the asian girl shots.. Thought I´ve got to say that 42 is the best imo.
37 has a bit of wierd lighting to it, but 38 has some really good qualities to it, making it a good shot overall.
Keep up the good work!
December 26th, 2007, 10:39 PM
I bearly come to this section, sometimes I forget its here!:P I remember seeing that very first picture in another thread, and I thought *diamonds*! Then I found another *diamond* in the editorial thread Which wond me up here in a diamond mine! Your also a beautiful *diamond* yourself!

Micaiah Nelson: haha aw thank you! I'm flattered to hear that. (took me a while to figure out what you were saying haha)
JustinBeckett: Nice to see you here, thanks for dropping by!
December 29th, 2007, 03:26 PM

January 2nd, 2008, 11:32 PM
Hi!! I remember seeing #34 on DA and I was like "wooooooowww...I wanna do that one daaaay!" with googly eyes and such. XD
Just beautiful work overall!! I love those ones in front of the mirror thing...so pretty, like dolls indeed!!
What is your best lighting source for the pictures--any of the pictures? Or at least your favourite? :D
January 11th, 2008, 02:40 AM
Hey thanks all~!!! Happy new year happy new year~
JazzW: I like using film lights. It gives a nice texture and mood to images. :)
January 17th, 2008, 09:03 AM
Oh man ur photos are incredible!! NOthing else to say...just wooooowwww!!!
April 24th, 2008, 01:25 AM
April 24th, 2008, 05:14 AM
I don't know what to say...Just great photography! I _love_ "15." in post #13! This is so beautiful! My absolutly favorite!
The other photos are great too. So soft and dreamy. :)
Don't stop posting, please!! :D
