I'm really proud of the progress all of you have made. The only thing that I can't figure out is why you guys can figure out how to give yourselves 5 stars on a thread instead of doing something useful like faking student I.D.'s so you can get discounts on art supplies. Whatever, eventually you're going to take our jobs anyway. Then just remember your poor old teachers and buy us our art supplies so we can continue on with our pathetic lives.

Hey everyone- a small update, and an announcement!

We've got two spots opening up, maybe a third, and we want serious applicants.
The new students can start on September 1st, or as soon as possible to that date. So, send your portfolios! Rest assured your portfolio will be seen, but it's busy here, so most likely only potential candidates will receive a reply. If you're committed to learning, send your portfolio by email to carl@massiveblack.com.

Looking forward to meeting new faces- til then, here's a small dose of the new stuff we've been up to. More to come!

We have had the space all along and originally planned on seventeen students. There was a vacancy created when one of the students was unable to continue also...but we are all settled in and the decision was made to add to the group. If you are interested, let us know.

This little update does little justice to the amount of nice work created so far. I look forward to seeing a full update.

wow you guys are doing awsome! seeing this makes me so mad i haven't been able to afford to go to the figure drawing sessions.

quick question about the atelier. I remember way back when you first where talking about the school you said you where thinking about making an option to go a Fine Arts path and an option to go a Concept art path. is that the case or did you narrow it down to only the concept art?

Blue Severin
August 6th, 2007, 11:53 PM
That atelier must be a monster creatin machine by the looks of those works. I'm graduating with my BFA in december, I assume that's too late to apply for in september?

The school works very organically, We have a few students that choose to go the traditional route, and that's totally cool. Concept design is less a part of the daily work than you may think, because we strongly emphasize foundations training. What good is a strong idea for a concept if it can't be executed correctly? Especially with the industry requiring more accurate and detailed concepts due to continuously evolving HD graphics in games and in film.

-Also, we now have a private forum for the students to get direct feedback from the entire MB crew as well as a few select professional artists.

-We are also planing a few group field-trips. This fall will be a blast! :spam:

I have a question:
Do most of the people at the Atelier already went to college before going there. Also have you ever had any students straight out of high school?

About 2/3 of the people here have completed art school. Nobody's come *straight* out of high school, but a few people have come within their first year of art school.

The Atelier looks and sounds like such an awesome experience the work you all are producing is fantastic.

There wouldn't happen to be any spots open for new students at the moment, would there? or any plans to add more students in the near future? (crosses fingers... please...maybe...)

Thanks for the info,
Adam
