These are really good. And because they're so good, I'm going to be really harsh with my crits, because you can obviously take it ;).
The composition of the first really bothers me. Intellectually, I know it's suposed to be full of action, but everything about it looks frozen. I can't figure out how he got into that pose or what's going to happen next. Also, the handling of the anatomy and fabric, while nicely done, seems a little too self conciously Phil Hale like.
In the Joker pic the color of the light source is unclear, and so his face looks dirty. You introduced that warm color into the lights on his skin but kept the highlights and his eyes pure white. His hairline looks a little awkward too. I love those juicy strokes on the background, though.
The hanged man piece is really strong. My only problem with it is that he doesn't really look dead. The spread legs you can get away with because they are important to the composition, but his arms and hands would never be able to be in that postion after death. (The hands especially are nicely drawn and very expressive, but at his point he's not capable of expressing anything.)
Still and all, nice stuff. Is there more (web page etc.)?

although i have to agree with the above comments, technicalities aside, i cant stop looking at the damn paintings. sometimes you just push aside the artistic part of it and enjoy it because it looks cool as hell. i would love to see more. soon.

Awesome works...are they going to be published somewhere?
to Elwell...while you're probably technically correct about the dead man's hands i reckon the painting would look kinda boring if they were just limp. That's the power of artistic licence right? Sometimes reality is a little boring.
I do have to make a point about the pose in the first one...the dude is gonna fall over as the tension in the chain increases and as gravity works it's magic on his body weight.
anyway...i like em

Hi man, this is Cyril,
I was the guy you showed your portfolio to at Jon Foster's booth, when he had to go somewhere. We talked a bit and asked me to check your stuff (remember, I showed you my version of the Joker - as a matter of fact, it's the little picture under my name). I'm very glad you decided to show your art here, it's certainly worth it, and you'll get (some) constructive feedback.
I told you at the Con that I would stop by your booth the next day, and believe me I tried, but for the heck of me, I could not find it. Man, the crowd, the people, the confusion, I'm sorry I couldn't find you. I bet I was real close though. In any case, keep posting stuff here, and I hope to see you at the next Con, if not before.
Until then,
Cheers,
C.

i am indifferent with this one. i recognize your skills, you are very good. i like the mechanics of color, like his arms edge on the blue sky background has a cool effect because of your medium and technique, i like your strokes, but for some reason i dont like it all that much. it feels unfinished or unsolved to me. dont be offended by my opinion, im am very low on the skill chain compared to you, so use that in your defense :p

the mood of this painting is awesome. the color and technique is awesome. i usually dont like crazy paintings of popular characters, like the joker. but i have to eat tomatos for two reasons for thinking like this when, a. its professioally rendered and b. it is in respect towards the artist (fan art) which in every case it will have either of these. its just a taste thing.
noting you heard of this site at the comic con - love comic books, and your talent, you have the rights to smite me with a large freshwater animal.

i like this one. its simple and has a cool subject and concept. i like crows, they are cool. http://www.conceptart.org/forums/images/icons/icon14.gif
i am worried for my ego and esteem for my upcomming paintings, i have been openly honest, to even professionals, and fear i might anger some people and will have to face the wrath of an onslaught of honesty :D

Elwell: I agree with all of your crits, except the last, who says he's already dead
Hey Cyril: thanks again for recommending the forum, and I also look forward to seeing you at next years con
Deth Jester: Yes I do, and yes I will
Killing people: thankyou for your comments, and never be afraid to voice your opinions, as long as they are well thought out(which yours are) they will be appreciated
And to everyone else: again thankyou I will post more as I make them and will join in on other threads as my schedule permits.

Great paintings! Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't the dead man's feet be limp?

No bad mouthing this guy:)...these were early paintings, his current works are even more spectacular. If he can muster up the time in his rigorous work schedule, you'd see much more work...he's got quite a hand...hopefully you all will see more of this guys stuff around here in the near future...and thats not a joker painting, thats a self portrait...heh::chug:

1st picture : theres a lack of details in the higher part of the tree... and theres no main focus on the painting... whats the point ?? maybe thats cuz of the other guy whos cut in the frame and i dont get the point of it... anyway... nice texture on the main guy though ! gj
2nd : i love it ! nothing mutch to say... maybe a bit more details on the shirt ?
3rd : very nice again !... but theres that little thing from the hands...the arms are too balanced toward his back, i think they should be more forward... ( my opinion again ) ;)
keep it up man... nice work !
