Hmmm..don't know whether this should go here or in the tutorials section...but here goes anyway -

Some of you may be familiar with Jeffrey Jones' work. Jon Foster mentions him as an important influence to his own work. I think jeffrey's work is superb too, he's been an art-god of mine since I was a kid, though many may obviously have different preferences/tastes. Anyway, there is a work-in-progress section on Jeffrey's site which has some nice examples of working methods for those who are interested. These methods will obviously work for digital as well as traditional oils -- which Jeffrey works in. Some of his examples are kind of messed up on the web-pages, but good nonetheless. It's great to see how the final painting ends up only vaguely like the initial idea sometimes.
BTW, spend some time checking out the site from the index page, there are tons of examples of great work.

now that you mention it, i am actually doing a master copy of one of jeffrey jone's paintings for my class assignment. i was going to do one of jon foster's, but my teacher said he did not show enough form or a good light source. i disagree with her on that one. poor jon!
