Bit of a weird one this, I'd be interested in hearing what people think about this one.
Cheers,

I love it. Love the colors and movement. This would look incredible hanging on a wall. Print that baby out and frame it.
Show some more like this!

Weird is one way to put it, abstract might be another. Seems like an appropriate painting for your handle. The colors and lines are nice, though it could be hard to get a clear idea of what this actually portrays...looks a bit like a figure with glowing eyes to me. :p but I like the ambiguity.

abiguity is one of the tennants of abstraction. anyway, my only crit is that the line weight on the squigglies is all uniform. it takes away from the depth that is beginning to happen with the rest of the piece.
just something to think of for next time.

I try not to criticize abstract art too much, its almost redundant, so I'll just comment.
It has a female feeling to it, and it seems dark and mechanical in some way, but with a layer of liveliness and jazz. Myabe facade would be a good title for this one. Sort of like a glimpse into the mind of an angst filled teen girl. Abstract art to me is relative to looking at clouds. Three different people could be looking at the same cloud and you'll get three completely different descriptions of it. Pictures like these are great to stare at for a while if your stuck.

Remember when you were a kid and you would cover a piece of paper with a thick layer of all different colors of crayon and then cover that with black poster paint mixed with a tiny bit of dish soap so it would stick and then scratch through the dry paint with a partially unbent paper clip?
I just did.

Elwell--> Sweet! Now that you mentioned it I definitely remember that, wow, awesome!

Skinner: I used to do lots of these in pen and ink , i could show them if you'd like?
nothing_ Its actually why I chose my nickname back when i was doing these in pen and ink a lot!
Szyslack Ambiguity is also the cornerstone of a successful foreign policy :) I think variating the line weight is something I will act on next time. I'd always made these things by never lifting the pen off the paper/wacom but i hadnt considered how limiting that is to the line weight ( just the wrist).
Chromo I'm really pleased you see so many of the things I tried to put into it, the occasional piece of feedback such as this validates the experiment . thanks
Elwell I'd completly forgotten about those, I see what you mean
Chromo48 yeah me too!
Thanks for the feedback all.

Wow. This is awesome. The shapes jump right out at you. Bold colors...excellent eye movement throughout the piece. Great work man.
How large are the pieces?

I'm really responding more to the second piece. The near complimentary colors and the almost representational shapes pull at my imagination more strongly than your first.

The second one is Trogdor fighting Strongbad.

Rorshach : I also love your second piece. It looks more polished and less of a collection of filers and layer effects like the first one.
By the way, is your appreciation for the abstract genre in any way related to your nickname... ? :)

I'm doing the pics at about A4 size or 3200 by 1600 atm.
My nick and the art are linked yes. During 94-95 I made a lot of pics like this in black and white ink and these new ones are my returning to the theme of images that everyone sees something different in.
Stuff like this -

first two are a bit cheap, too cold for my taste. But your last drawing is more honest, it looks a bit like Kandinsky in some areas. I'm definately interested in seeing your progress in this direction.

yea the second one is more appealing and great color too
check out this guy

(look under "studio")
i met him on the street doing art. he does drawings of people playing jazz with one continuous line. the best part: he would make jazzy noises with his mouth as he did the drawing--going in synch with the speed and turns/stops of the line.
