BBT Magazine seeking graphic/web designer:
Before you read any further, let me be honest and state that this is the bane of most artist - an unpaid position. If the idea of working for spec to develop a resume offends you or is beneath you, then read no further.
For anybody left, here's the pitch:
BBT Magazine is a print magazine of speculative fiction and satire, aimed at the geek demographic. We are a small-press magazine that is growing fairly quickly in popularity, and has had some recent hits with regard to interviews and reviews.
We started as a response to the general lack of humor in the world of Geek Fiction (SciFi, Fantasy & Horror), and our base mission statement is to give the writers and readers of satirical genre fiction a place to call home. We are currently in the process of applying for non-profit status.
We reached the limit of our design capabilities long ago in terms of our website, and are seeking an individual who can whip the front end of our little page into shape. Our mag itself is beautifully designed, but unfortunately the website doesn't reflect the quality of the magazine. Over the next year we have many plans for growth in terms of ever changing content and user interface with our site. We want the site to do more than just sit there.
We have a back end designer who has agreed to prop the site up with Ruby on Rails for free, but he doesn't do front end at all. What we really need is someone who is comfortable with graphic design and CSS who can create a clean and stable front end to be used as soon as it's done, and to be a template when we make the switch to Ruby on Rails.
As I said before this is an unpaid position, but in exchange the designer could keep a permanent logo and link to his or her site, and would receive a lifetime subscription to our magazine, and the knowledge that they did a great thing for a little non-profit, and possible paid work in the future.
This may be an opportunity for a young designer to build a resume.

Thanks for your time,
