hi! i started making a landscape and this is where I'm at. the water is not done and the leaves on the trees are not completed but i would really love to get some harsh and serious criticism on this. paint overs are more than welcome!

just a quick note: I'm trying to achieve a tropical sunset. it's a windy night so the leaves should move towards the right... i'm trying but it's not the best and the water is calm but theres a few waves comming in. how should I go about adding more life to the scene?

The one thing I noticed is that one wave seems really out of place. Some reference would be really key for this.

ah yes. that wave is on an individual layer. i'm trying to incorporate something like that in the scene so i guess i'll look for refs. I WAS trying to do a piece without any and so far, i think i did not bad. :)

I would suggest you study some real pictures of sunsets at the beach or at sea; so you can see how the sky reacts to the sun.
You need some major work on the ocean waves, and the beach waves have too much white on them for that particular time of day.

i think the palms are a bit stiff, they all look alike, maybe change a few tones of colour, and also change the leaves a bit,

I would suggest some color dodge for the sunset and hightlights, and you could add some reflective light off the sand onto the dark side of the trees..the trees are all black seems like they would have some highlights and more form.
