Hey there guys and girls,

To tell you the truth I found this place through that whole debacle with Snoggs. I'm sure most of you probably know who I'm talking about. This leads me to my question. How do you see your art?

I know I'm not perfect and I don't wanna be as snobby as Snoggs is however, I do hold my art dear to my heart. It's like say you have a child and he or she has an illness or a condition that can never be treated, but you still love them since their your child.

Probably a pretty morbid way yo look at it but that's kind of how I see my art sometimes.

I still consider myself a "wet behind the ears" newbie to the world of art, hell I'm still having problems with hand eversince I started drawing when I was five. But I want to get my stuff out ther and make some sort of dent in the art world.

Yes my art is cartoony, it has some hints of manga-esque are in there, hell I mostly take a look at what artists I see do, say to myself "Hey that's pretty cool how they __________" then tweak it around in my own fashion. I kinda see it as a post modernistic approach but I could be wrong you know.

And if someone thinks I am I'd like to hear their thoughts so I can keep from f**king up a second time around.

With that said I'll get off my soap box and hear what you guys have to say.

I think he's referring to the clown who stars in this particular "Worst of CA" thread.

Bingo, but I don't mean to start any flame wars or anything I'm just trying to get thoughts on how some people here think it's best to view their own art as. I figure it'll be a nice learning experience and maybe a way to better myself as an artist.

I feel pretty much the same about my art as you do. The reason for why I still like my stuff is because I'm happy with the improvement, I think. But I'm tired of it as soon as I see I can do better

Except in this analogy, the child's illness is treatable, only you might not bother because the treatment is too much work.

You may love your own art because you created it, that's perfectly reasonable, but remember that nobody else will see it with your eyes. It's important to be able to look at your work objectively if you ever want your target audience to expand beyond yourself.

I usually completely love my art when it's just finished (even if I'm sick of looking at it) that's why I hang it in view, because the more I look at it, the more I find mistakes and stuff to improve. Then I put it away and I start something new.

I hear ya. I guess I worded that wrong in terms of the art aspect of it. Believe me I do want to find ways to better myself.
