What are some excersises you did to increase your skill?

Personally i found the biggest jump in results by studying values and tone properly.

Study extremely high contrast images and extremely low contrast images in order to really bulk out your understanding.

Define form through tone, avoid lines. That will make your work far better in the long run, esp if you plan to paint a lot.

Apart from that just draw from life, and used varied subjects and lighting.

Here's one... fins somewhere that has a sculprure (preferably of a human) outside.. then find a spot where you can see shadow and light playing.. return to that spot 3 times in a day (morning, noon, and dusk) and make a visual record of the form and how the light works on it.. try it with different seasons too.
