Everyone must check out the sound of the new Poison the Well (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poison_the_well) (PTW) album called Versions (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Versions). Their last release was in 2003 and many PTW fans have been waiting for a new album, including myself.
I have listened to the whole album and enjoy the familiar vocals of Jeffrey Moreira. It is very exciting to see the new path this band is taking.
What do you like or dislike about the new album? What do you miss from the previous album?
Cheers.

I haven't picked it up yet, but I've been listening to their new tracks on their myspace and it's sounding great. Definitely more experimentation in guitarwork is evident and I'm really liking what I'm hearing :)
New album usually = new tour so they better come over here hehe.

the first track is great, the rest sort of blurs together for me.
they had a couple lineup changes and it shows. They're not as unified as they once were. In my eyes it really doesn't compare to "You Come Before You."

I have to spend some more time with it to give a serious comment, but until now it sounds interesting. I do understand easy tigers point about the "blur" though. Less is more? or maybe its really because of the new lineup...
*continues listening*

Sorry to bump, though this thread ain't too old...
I finally picked up Versions, and I can definitely see new direction that they've taken, although there's some shades of Tear From the Red-era rearing up throughout the album. Fave songs are Nagaina, Slow Good Morning, Breathing's For The Birds, and Riverside.
Altogether it plays kind of like a soundtrack for a dystopian futuristic Wild West-themed film, rather cool, I get a lot of imagery running through my mind when I'm listening to it. Makes me want to do some art in this kind of setting, hehe. And on 'Slow Good Morning' (track 6) does anyone else get a slight NIN-esque vibe when they listen to parts of the backing track?
So in closing, post-apocalyptic-cowboy-core = sweet ;)

I agree with the first song being the best. There is something unique about it that could have been added to the rest of the album. Yes, the rest of it is a little "fuzzy". Though I still enjoy every bit of it... it is PtW, how could you not love it after being a fan of their other albums!
