here are some doodles/3D sketches done in mudbox&rendered in vray:
edit: I added a fullboy sketch. It's a dude with some ornamental costume or bioarmor thingie on him. He has a bit of a gynoid form, with broad hips and thighs. It's still in a rough stage , but I don't know if I'll continue to refine it. The head, hands and feet are very sketchy, I just blocked in some main forms, hinting at fleshy and bony structures. It has a little under 1 million polyz. If I were to subdivide it further I would have to brake it into separate parts because mudbox can't handle more than 2-2.5 million polyz on my 512MB RAM P4. I used somebody elses basemesh http://www.tweakcg.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=307 . I don't know if I'll retopologise it. I think it will remain just another exercise.

Awesome work. :) I love how they look like real clay. Do you know of anywhere that might have free mudbox tutorial videos online? I really am having issues in learning how to use the software to sculpt. I want to get to your level. Also, how did you render it in VRay? Any tutorials for that that you're aware of?
Thanks man, and keep up the awesome work.

takeČ: Thank you. I will continue to doodle and I will post the results. :)
Artastic: Thanks! I'm glad you like my stuff. There are some free Mudbox tutorials on digitaltutors.com and Vray tutorials on vrayelite.com. The vray renders that you see here are very basic.. just Indirect Illumination turned on, Iradiance map for primary bounces and QuasiMontecarlo for secondary, an area light, a fastSSS shader slapped on the model, exponential color mapping

Nice update iatriki - Q: what sort poly of range is your base mesh?
Look forward to your next post.

thank you ! :)
JAK: the base mesh is ~800 polygons. I used a bsemesh that I found a wile ago on somebody's website. It has decent edgeflow and I use it when I'm not in the mood of making a mesh from scratch. Sketching should be as fluid as possible, without having to bother about polyz.
DeadlyFreeze: I find that the current version is very stabile. Maybe you try to work with too many polygons. :xpld:

here's a little update. It has ~60 thousand polygons. The guy has a bit of facial nerve palsy.
The brown face is a little sketch I did on a little basemesh I quickly made in modo. The basemesh has 372 polyz and the mudbox sculpt has 20 thousand.
