I might be getting an Intuos, but I'm unsure if it's really worth the money ($650NZD for a 9x12").

I'm currently using a Graphire3, and haven't had much experience with Intuos, so I'm wondering if the Intuos really performs significantly better, as the specifications would have me believe.
Thanks.

Just switched to an intuos myself and can't believe I waited this long. I got it to take advantage of the custom brushes I have that use "tilt" which grapphire can't do, but was amazed at how much more sensitive the intuos is. You can actually draw with it!

If you can afford to switch, do it. It's completely worth it.

That sounds pretty good actually. Sometimes when I'm drawing with my Graphire, it really feels more like I'm trying to carve something.

Anymore opinions from people who have used both?

graphire is fine if you use it to paint.
Its not the best tool to draw with. But then again I can't draw with the Intuos as well.
Tilt and Bearing can be of great help. I think its worth buying an Intuos if you want to use flat brushes. (and everyone should want to use them, because this just saves so much time)

a friend of mine had a graphire for a long time. he let me use it occasionally, i thought it was awesome. then, i decided to get an Intuos for myself. having never used one nor known someone who had one.. i was taking a chance, when i got it, i was blown away. its MUCH better than a graphire IMO.

i let my friend scribble on it for a few days.. he got his t the end of that week.

BUT, honestly you dont need a 9x12.. the 6x8 is more than enough. but thats up to you.. - JAG

Thanks for the replies.

Looks like the Intuos does justify it's price...
The 9x12" is only $100 more than the 6x8" over here, and I think it's definitely worth that extra. If I'm getting something expensive, might as well make it good, ya know what I mean.
I imagine it would feel much better when what I'm drawing is more in ratio with what's on the screen.

bah, I'm still stuck with a Graphire4.... I've never used an Intuous but it seems like it's time to scrape together every penny I have.

Intuos - if you've got the money,
If you haven't then rob your local grocery store, it's worth it.

I've got a spackoid painting style, with my wrist all turned around 180 degrees, my little finger where my thumb should be, my tongue sticking out of my left ear and my right arm flailing behind my head like I'm flagging a bus down, and the intuos forgives me every time.....

Even with the cursor free roaming across dual monitors I can get the tiniest subtlest marks

$410 USD = $570 NZD.. although shipping to NZ might add some, it'd probably still be cheaper.. - JAG

Hey, thanks for finding that for me. Unfortunately, they don't ship outside of the U.S.
I probably wouldn't buy such an expensive thing from an international company anyways. Would be way too much hassle if something went wrong... I'm just paranoid like that.

Reading all the reviews there was helpful though, seems this thing is loved by anybody who ever owned one. Just a matter of time before I get it. ;)
