i guess this one needs a little explination, it was my second portrait of the night the first one looked allright but when I held it up to the mirror I saw alot of flaws, I was a little frustrated so I stood in front of the full length mirror held the pad of paper to my chest and made every mark without looking at the paper but looking at the pice of paper in the mirror, make sense?

it was very challenging but it was cool being able to see my face and the drawing at the same time, this is a good excercise for anyone who wants to break from the norm and try something new to strech out thier brain.

Wow, you're always trying to improve yourself as an artist. It is incredibly inspiring. I can honestly say that no other artist (ever!) has inspired me as much as you have, and left me in awe on such a regular basis.

I've actually tried something else!
I've placed myself in a 3/4 position and while seeing my reflection facing the same direction as I was facing (anyone following this?) I've tried to draw myself facing... the opposite - like doing a mirror operation inside my head to the image I was just seeing... Crrrazy Right?

The more direct you get the more I am in awe of your abilities. The last three posts have left me thinking about my own approaches. At some point Andrew you will have to make a book about yourself and your art. You have too much to offer!

The marks on this last one are so visceral. Much energy and emotion was employed to make each.

hah!
have you ever tried to complete a drawing without ever lifting the pencil off the paper, so the whole thing is just one really long line? if you know what your doing you can get a pretty cool effect. it ends up looking really "stream of consciousness" since you dont really get to think about the composition or execution too much.

I had to do soooooooooooo many of those continuous line drawings in my first year drawing class in college. They got incredibly redundant after the 100th one in the span of one month. Everything from 5-minute gestures, to 30 minute still lifes. It never ended. They haunt my dreams even now. :P
