my art might resemble his art to the untrained eye; but its not the same, analyse any portion of the artwork and you'll find that i made this one myself, i used Maya and photoshop.

the reason i left out the eyes and mouth and nose and other facial structures was because i am not good enough with Maya to make those things realistically yet, but as soon as i am skilled enough i will make a photorealistic head with eyes included

instead of using it as a inspirational example of the possible use of edgeloops, how about using it as reference to how great things can come from such simple things

your missing the main thing,
i have not got the skill to model the face that well yet, so before i started on this i had to have a clear goal and something achievable

so:

i can write custom shaders
i can model a head and render it (and the extra stuff)really well
but my weakness is the eyes and mouth

so i decided to create this no face lone solider guy, the image is not a result of technical incompetency but rather a result of making a really good picture with my current skill level. i knew my limitations and created this artwork knowing that.

i did this 3D model years ago to celebrate a young woman's victory over a horrible disability, lackoffollicleitis (aka "Chihuahua syndrome"). she struggled with the stigma of her genetic anomaly and eventually met and married her prince, and in the end became queen of the universe, but always longed for real hair of her very own.

with your amazing ability to create micro-detail via displacment maps, and your killer pshop skillz, you could give this gal hair in no time. lessee... 10 hours to do "Faceless," with hair and chainmail and armor and background, hair alone is only 1/4 of that, so, that makes, what 2.5 hours? and the tough stuff's already taken care of! whatta deal!

i modelled the head in zbrush and kept the first mesh as a box, i then used zbrush to export this displacement map

so i did model the head, just not in Maya

here's a hint at what you could do to be a successful artist:
- be original
- post constructive criticism on other peoples posts instead of being a silly little vandal

Constructive critique: don't call people morons... Because it colors your words in certain way and makes them biased. Be neutral in your replies...discuss the critiques, disagree with them, but don't scold a person who said it, neither his or your personality is a topic of conversation.
