These pics are attemptings to go more serious in art training, I don't stay too much time drawing and rarely finish my pieces. Most times it's coz I don't now how to acquire a finished/professional look and I don't realize what i'm doing wrong.
Star Wars inspiration. It's a subject that I love and only "fanart" I like to do. First are the 4 sketches (1-2 hours) I want to finish. Then came the progress I did.
I hope you tell me some good things to help me. Please, critz at will.

hmm, maybe paying more attention to textures of the environment will help you along? right now the surrounding cliffs look kind of rubbery to me. are you using reference?
My sketchbook is here (http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=71080)

When was the last time your drew/painted from life?
Also, these paintings are nice, but they aren't Star Wars in my eyes. Star Wars has a very distinct visual style to it that's often very difficult to understand without a solid basis in drawing and painting reality. It's in the way a wall or uniform has lines going one way instead of a another, or how the texture of a wall contrasts, or in how the depth of scenes is often exhaggerated. It's hard to see unless you have a basis in the real, then you can better see what changes they took to make it seem so fantastical.

I'm glad that you gave me a little of your time and your words are precious to me. well, i dont have deal with my art serious like i want, and i think i have a long way to go.
I'll take some references and try again.
Vertrucio, you're completely right. I'm tricking myself with the lightsabers and tech stuffs. Well, i understood what you mean about the SW visuals.
I don't have a formal art education and it's very hard to me realize when i'm going right or not. Now, i can take one direction to go.
Thanks for your attention. I'll post any progress in future. :)

Whether the drawings are inspired by Star Wars or not, they still look good IMO. They do look like sketches tho, and I would add much more details to complete them.
One thing that bugged me, on the 2nd drawing I think the angle is too steep. I would try to keep it at a lower angle so it conveys action, but still does not force you to tilt your head to get some of the details/action.

Try picking up The Illustrated Star Wars Universe by Kevin J. Anderson, Ralph McQuarrie. It's a fantastic resource for learning about the worlds, as well as seeing the concept art that went into the production of the worlds for the original series. (And which is later seen in the re-issues. but thats mostly worth note if you have ever seen the ORIGINAL releases)
All in all pretty good. I agree about the angle for pic2... it's kinda disorienting.
Also, I want to say that you should make sure you let us know if anything is intentional. Rubber cliffs are by no means an oddity in something as extensive as the SWU. if they AREN"T supposed to be smoothed, then I agree; try some reference.
