I think it's very good, good composition and good anatomy. My only crit would be that it's a bit hard to look at, I think the values should be more unified. But it's great as it is, so maybe something to think about for the next pic?

A few points -

You have a strong light source coming in from the right (as we can see by the shadows) but its not reflected in the figure, nor the surroundings.
You need to plan your composition better - chopping off his foot and the top of the flag is always bad - a complete figure would be better.
Try squinting at your picture - you'll notice the head, shoulder, flag and dome merge together, therefore you need to boost your values.
Some sky would be good as well (JMO)

Apart from that its ok - as Serpian points out its hard to read.

Very quick paintover - its not perfect, but still

I think he can def. get away with cutting out the foot but, I would however show the top of the flag being that it seems to be an imprtant part of the drawing.. Your biggest flaw like otehrs have mentioned is lack of value and contrast.... Other thing I would point out is that there is no clearly defined focal point... I think you should simplify the cape lot more.. get rid of alot of those creases and do a simple gradiant value shift... the biggest thing I learn at the Montreal workshop was simple against complex.. You need parts of an image to be simplified in order to give the viewers eye a chance to relax and really focus on what needs to be focused.. Otherwise.. good start.. I would continue to chip away at this..
