View Full Version : straight edges and masking in Painter 8

Alright, I've had it. I have to ask. I've seen lots of people getting perfect curves and straight lines in their work, but I have no idea how they're doing it.

I can do it just fine in Photoshop 7, but Painter 8's pen tool and lasso tool work in such a way that the Photoshop functions I rely on don't seem to be there, like selecting an outline of the shape using vectors from the pen tool, then turning the shape into a selection rather than a filled vector shape.

I dunno maybe I'm just looking in the wrong spot. Please, someone educate me. I'd rather do all this in Painter than switch back and forth to photoshop.

Duh. It never fails. I ask about the thing then I find a possible solution two minutes later. Okay so I see the convert to selection button at the top when I have the pen tool selected. If there's anything else that would be helpfull, please list below.

You could always just trace your image in Adobe ILL and then export it out to photoshop to add color.
