Hello,

my name is Joseph Magee of Experimental Game Studios.
I have come here to make this post in search of Artists / Programmers / 3D Modellers... for a Massive Multiplayer Online First Person Shooter called Sol (short for Solaris, our star) that has been in development by us at EGS for quite a while. The game is based on three years of back story and concept work, and just recently have we begun a huge push for the people we need to turn it from concept to game. This is a full industrial game that is, indeed, looking for a publisher...but that will never happen without a playable alpha or beta. Hence is why I have come here in search of skilled staff members. Those who join of free voluntary will, will receive full credit for their efforts. Those who want money, will be paid (contracts will be made to insure I hold up my part) in order of amount of work done for the project when and if the project makes money. Our aim is to sell the product just under normal shelf prices and a monthly fee just under monthly prices.

I'm sure you are already interested, but wish to know what is this game going to have...
Here is what we plan to have in the final game:
Battlefield Locations - Land, Space, Urban, Ocean, Colony, and Zero Atmosphere Surfaces.
Where at - The Solar System is contested as a whole.

What is it like? - NOT like Star Wars... it is a more... in-depth story, dirty, war torn version of our "utopian future" that people have claimed since the 1960s to be our space-loving future. A time when all out war rages on many fronts and shells still rule the majority of the battlefield. A time in which massive starships rain shells onto other ships, while landing craft try to blockade run the defences of the ship they are trying to capture. A time where Earth is in ruins, resembling the ice age and the lava filled early years of Earth. Where mankind is scattered and fighting desperately and alien threats are open to all. This is the days in which mankind has spoke of for thousands of years... our grim, blood filled future of never ending war.

Story? - Persistent story will be applied, so it is not pointless to fight!

By who - Four sides... the resisting forces: Free Terran Forces, the dominating corporate nation: Omni Solaris, the soviet and Russian fighters: Union of the Soviet Space Colonists (USSC, primary faction inside USSC - Russian Federation)... and the aliens from Phobos: The Yushani.

Battlefield 2142 like? - Not really, we have skill progression and play types that focus on players. A lot of things have been planned to make this game fairly unique, and some robust designs are on paper right now. "map" size, will be much larger. We intend to have multiple bases, cities, or other things... right now, we are focused on getting starship to starship combat (turrets, fights, boarding parties) working. Immediately after we will begin work on land environments.

Do you have an engine? - Yes! Nebula 2 graphics engine, it is a C++ engine that we have elected to produce with. It is open source and can be tweaked to our needs. It DOES need to be compiled, and we need coders who can do that and make the game.

Site please? - WWW.ExperimentalGameStudios.com we do have staff forums as well.

Staff, how many? - At least 20 active staff members [not all of them post], 30 more partially active, and over 100 supporting potential players.

What kind of jobs? - Concept Artists, C++ Programmers (Graphics, Interface, basic physics, network coding, game play) , 3DS or Maya modellers (starships, starfighters, fighters, tanks, infantry, buildings, interiors, weapons, trucks, nature) , Skin / Texture Artists (humans, weapons/metal, vehicles, starships, nature, etc) , Musicians (Classic, Industrial Rock, Rock, Orchestrated / Grand Style, Techno) , Voice Actors (please email or post on my forums if you wish to help), Level Designers / Architects (interior base designs, layouts, etc on paper), ANY Scientific & Engineer advisors (we like to keep close to reality in some of our technology!), or anything else you may wish to help us with. We always have openings! Just show us some of your work, if you meet the level of quality we need then you get the job. Simple as that!

Pay? - Again, if you want money, you must be willing to work on contract that if and when we make any financial gain, you WILL be paid. (EG: if we break even with the server fees, NO one gets money. If we make 200% profit, everyone gets paid what we can pay them with the gain!). To enter legal contract for what is legally considered employment, you MUST be over the age of 16. If you are under, you will have to work on good faith / volunteer until you are 16.

Can I see some concept art or models? - Gladly! I will have the links following this with short descriptions of what you are looking at. Please note, these are by far not our only concepts or models. We have a huge stockpile of them, and only need more assistance in the project.
