Oh my, my old sketchbook seem to have fallen over the end of the world.
A tragic loss indeed, but we move on. I have only myself to blame for being lazy and not updating. So, let's start anew without further ado, shall we?

Hm, looks like I've drawn a lot of nudes lately. Anatomy practice AND fanart at the same time? Delicious! Happy plastic - it's fantastic!

Ragathol

More goddess goodness!

"Skuld" in modern Swedish means guilt, but that's not where her name is from, rather the old Icelandic word for "necessity", *skola*. "Skola" in older Swedish is also "shall". She can stand for the future, but that is probably a newer christian idea. Nevertheless, it fits with her position in the manga.

It's goddamn sevon o clock in the morning and I couldn't sleep, so I thought I'd sketch a little.

Big bad battle mech booyah! I really like how this one came out. Heavily inspired by Warmachine, of course.

Muhaha! a Hourus rising manga-interpretation, could i send this one to my gamegroup please?! its so cool^^ *rofl*

i like yah lineart, nice work! please do some more color-works soon, you have a good understanding of propotions and anatomy, the manga style is a easy way to work it out. ever think about gettin more realistic whit ya style? i think it would fit nicely to your great lineworks here and show more of your true potenzial.

Gunther: Thanks :3 It's all pen (or pencil) and paper, except for the paintchat doodles, of course.

TheBeast: I don't really know what you're referring to, but sure :)
Thanks for your comment, a few more color works are underway. I go a little more realistic sometimes, but I prefer to work on my cartoon style. I would need to practice more anatomy, faces etc though.

New one: The last was the big bad mech, here's the big good mech.

Also, I found out that my last thread wasn't gone after all... no use bumping it now, but if you want to check out some earlier sketches, go here (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=77877).

Very nice clean work you have produced here........you seem to favour the shojo and josei manga styles.
Ever tried doing different manga styles or even combining styles??
for example :- in Get Backers they combined Shonen with the comical tare look from time to time.

Ragathol
August 15th, 2007, 05:49 PM
Inkjexion, Smokey: Thank you very much! :o

Compact Disaster: Yeah, those recent things are pretty much in the same style.. I'm trying different stuff from time to time though, but I could do it more.

Great stuff, nothing to crit really. Keep it up!

Oh and your webcomic was a really nice read to, the story was really entertaining (though I haven't finished it yet).

Ragathol
August 19th, 2007, 03:05 PM
Thanks! Well, I'm not finished with it either...

I was inspired to practice painting faces by another thread here, and I tried to find a reference pic with some interesting lighting... So I ended up with this African man, involved in a voodoo ritual. Painter 9, about 1 hour+.
I don't really like to work with painter, but I have to tame that beast one day. Especially since after I was about halfway done, it decided to reverse the color picker, so it only picked up as background color... Highly annoying to have to switch over every time I changed color. Also, I got some scratches and stuff that couldn't be erased or painted over. What's up with that?
Anyway, voodoo man. I'll do some more face studies later.

August 20th, 2007, 05:18 PM
Nice face study m8. And interesting designs in general! I´ll be seeing ya at sketchgroup, or are you living la vida loca in Stockholm?

Ragathol
August 22nd, 2007, 07:18 PM
Heya man, thanks! Yeah, I've moved to Stockholm for good(for now) now, so no more Skövde for me...
I'll check your stuff out though.

No more face studies yet, but some color girlies. And smut!

very nice comic work, good story telling and nice flow. The angles could get more interesting as well as lighting but its good for your style. I like the coloring job you did on your maid character and also the very nice start you had on this one:

Last painting... A strange request from an imageboard. If you know your stuff, you see what this is. If not... it doesn't really matter either way.

New update with a lot of oekakis from the last few days.
Bah, why is the size limit for png so low? Gotta convert a lot of them. Here goes for starters.

September 10th, 2007, 10:35 PM
dang the one with the photo of a voodoo man sure is creepy as hell. O_O;;;

Although you made his eyes are a bit big, and needed more textures to the skin. Good shot and keep up. =3

Vaaa? Udda ordval :P

Like the comics :) Pretty hard to understand a yota when you only got two pages to read :(.

Nicienice, men hur ser det ut när du målar "normalt" alltså inte serieblahblah.

Ragathol
September 11th, 2007, 03:12 PM
Shachihoko: Thanks - yeah, I messed up at some things. I'm not used to painting without sketching first. I'm not really familiar with Painter, so texturework will have to wait a while.

MaxoftheSouth: Thanks :3
We've sent it to Tokyopop... let's hope for the best.

Keenir: I loved those films as a kid... I wonder if they're still any good.

The oekakis that were to fat for the last post: Some Excelism, Street Fighter Karin and The fffffff Note!

This is a cool SB, I really like the one with the guy reading the FFFF book with the headset. Great expressions and sequential stuff. 4*s from me!

You should do more realistic stuff, watch your proportions too. You're obviously going for the cartoony stuff which lets you get away with a lot, just keep working on it.

Ragathol
October 3rd, 2007, 07:49 PM
Diphallia: Jaaa... kanske det. Serien finns i bokhandlar över hela landet annars.. :P
Jag tecknar/målar mest serieblahblah, annars finns det ju andra exempel här i tråden. Utöver det inte så mycket annat...

n1va: Thanks! Yeah, it's definitely time for another anatomy/hands drawing session. I feel I'm slipping into manners I don't really want.

Some more oekakis. Again, most of them were too large for png, I'll post the rest later.

Nice stuff man. :) I found it amusing to watch through all this, pretty many similar intrests, (shirow, warhammer, Azumanga D, etc.) Keep it up.

The comic på svenska was also very funny. :)

Aye, those things will probably stay with me for a while longer...

Eugie: Thank you~
Hope you like this, then :)

Made this in a totally lovely little program I found, called Paint Tool SAI(google it, there's an English 31 day trial version). As you can see(I hope), it's got the sweetest line tool ever. The watercolor is nice too. Definitely try it out!

Ragathol! My Friend! It´s great to see you again! How´s life treating you? You keeping in touch with Kay any? Solid visual storytelling! Your images are fun to look at, in a good way ^^ Nice lighting in the B & W one. That´s hard ^^

Kaktuzlime: Yay! I'm great, thanks! Almost done with the second book now.. well, the drawings. After that, graytoning 150 pages...
Kay? Kei? Kwok-Hei? Jodå, vi håller kontakten, han har flyttat till Sthlm nu också. Men vi ses inte mycket oftare för det, haha... Alla bara jobbar.

Eugie: Thanks, I like to picture her as 17-19, rather than 14... She must have had time to learn all that magic too!

Eugie: I don't mind lolis, but somehow I always try to be somewhat realistic even in the most unrealistic settings...

Jelluh: Thanks, I'll try to update more often.

Oh yeah, I forgot this one... This was a request from a Touhou discussion board, Ran being branded by Yukari. Made in Photoshop.

I´m not really sure what´s going on in this last one, but it sure is fun to look at.
I like the simplistic mountains in the background. Maybe indicate a sky as well? Some low-saturaded light blues or something.
Keep it up!

Ragathol
April 27th, 2008, 01:42 PM
Maybe.. but I think it's busy enough as it is. The mountains were just an afterthought as well, but they do their part well.

Keeping it up... more character sketches, a small comic(first half), a portrait of Alice, and Cirno in Doomtrooper!

DoktorNo
May 8th, 2008, 07:49 AM
Hi there! I know your artwork from DeviantArt. Nice to see you here. :) AFAIK manga is not well welcomed here... But I see that you are trying to do some anatomy studies. Keep working. :)

Ragathol
August 8th, 2008, 01:45 PM
DoktorNo: Thanks. What I'm doing is sort of realistic style, but with cartoon faces. I strive to draw realistic. I know most people here like barbarians and power armour though :)

Here are a few more various doodles and paintings.

Good stuff you got there (I happen to be a Touhou fan myself), even though I don't like anime/manga that much. Have you tried drawing Alexiel from Angel Sanctuary?

Ragathol
August 10th, 2008, 02:44 PM
