A couple weeks ago, I noticed a dead mouse outside my window. Of course, I took pictures of it. The result is this painting.

Please tell me what you think works and what falls flat.

Thanks!

Here's the work I did tonight in response to some of the crits from the first image. I think they helped me push this forward. Let me know if there are still areas that are lacking, or if I made new mistakes. Thanks!

J.Peckham- thanks! Painter Classic actually, tho.

For the 200+ other people that viewed this thread, why no comment? I would much prefer a negative reaction to silence.

hey great work, thats crazy, the ideas great, i love the lighting on the mouse. the one thing that bothers me, is the mouse looks like a rolled up bundle of grass, with a really nice mouse head on it.?? and the handle of his halbert/weapon should be submerged by the weight of it, it looks almost like an afterthought put in the last minute.
great work, wish i could do as well~

ok, cool, now I know the muddy beach isn't reading as ground and the fur color I used is a little too green. I'll have to see if I can find a way to make the feet and tail visible (the mousey parts).

I like the design of the armor, especially the helmet. I really like your painting style too.

At first I thought that there is something flying around and I didn't notice what the hell it is. When I read about the mouse I finaly saw it. There is no shadow on the ground, so the mouse is flying. And second thing - I took her head as her legs... I don't know why..
