Any comments on this piece? It was due the other day but I want to go back and fix some things.

it's not bad at all. If you want to make use of textures a little bit better, you could experiment with blending mode so it won't look like u just stick a photograph on there. And, it doesn't hurt to go a little bit more contrast. over all, nice work!

You are leaping ahead into complex from-imagination images before you are ready. Color, composition, line, anatomy, lighting, story-telling - these are all challenging things on your own. Draw from life and practice these things individually if you wish to improve.

A more specific critique:

Composition: this is a rather standard novel-cover composition. Everything is rather distant from the camera, and arranged in the middle in a conventional (and not so exciting) way. There is no real depth to the space – just a foreground and distant background.

Anatomy – It’s getting there. The twisty poses are good. The rendering of specific areas, such as the lower right leg of the lower woman, is wacky.

Color/lighting – the colors are nice and mellow, but there is very little understanding of light-sources going on.

I hope this helps. . .

What seedling said.
In addition...
What exactly is that huge black rag thing in the center?
The cloud of purple ooze in the sky is overwhelming everything else.

d00dle: Thanks, the textures were almost an after thought, i should have displaced them more.

Seedling: Awesome critique! Thank you, these comments make me push harder. I was playing it safe with the compoistion....i know.

Elwell: Good comments. I really see the overwhemingness of the purple now, thank you. The black was suposed to be her dress...
