Basically when i try to use the eyedropper in CS2 it is picking up the colour and putting it into the background colour box in the toolbar rather than the foreground colour

For example when i am using the brush tool i have been pressing alt to pick up a colour and continuing to colour with it - it makes blending alot easier.
But now its picking up the colour and placeing it into the blackground colour box and in order to use it i need to switch the two around which is needless to say incredibly time consuming and frustrating.

I dont know why it went wrong in the first place on both the mac at uni and my pc at home. I dont know if i pressed something wrong on the keyboard i'm almost 99% sure i didn't change any preferences on either machine it just seemed to start happening

Anybody know how to fix it (on both mac and pc) and what causes it?

Make sure when you use the ColorTool Palette/Color Picker, you're not selecting the background color, ie you may have that highlighted instead of your foreground color. That is usually what happens. It's not noticeable at first so make sure you have that highlighted.

On the color palette, just click on the foreground (upper) or background (lower) of the two overlapping squares. Notice that whichever is selected will have a double line around it rather than a single. The selected color is the one that will be modified by using the sliders or the eyedropper.

i have clicked on the foreground box in the toolbar and it just brings up the colour picker box - with the slider in it. But when i press ok i'm still only picking up the background colour when i use my eye dropper even though in the colour picker box i am modifying the foreground colour.
