I don't really post in any other thread except for my big one but I want to contribute to other parts of the site...here are some of my recent sketches:

(This is a study of bernie wrightson's technique. His "Frankenstein" illustrations are some crazy good pen and ink illustrations...his technique is very very interesting...check it out sometime if you can.)

I am trying to learn to do pen drawings without doing any pencil roughs underneath...it is really making me think about my marks...however, my drawings look more crappy in the meantime hehe... People on the train don't know what hit them hehe.

Damn, mcm. These look Amazing!

I really dig the first one. I'd just like to see some more scribbly's all over the place.

I love the feel of the last one. Boy, you have been practicing haven't you? ;)

I love that " I just took out a whole army with my buds....what else you got" look he's got.

Superb! :)

You probably already know this, but for those who don't, Wrightson's "Frankenstein" style was a concious emulation of Franklin Booth (http://www.fleskpublications.com/booth-home.htm).

hey MCM, just doing my occasional check-in on your progress :) you're doing damn well - the sketch of the man with the lantern is really stellar. I know what you mean about the pen sketching, but it has helped me personally a LOT to sketch in pen instead of pencil. Where I used to sketch for hours trying to get the right look out of a certain image, I find myself flying through thumbnails in a few minutes and arriving at my goal a lot faster. Keep up the good work!

Not bad, keep working on your line quality and shading, push those values more.

koro - Thanks for the input man I have seen your pen work and it is amazing so thanks for the input!

elwell - I didn't know that!!!! Holy cow Franklin Booth's stuff is amazing. I am buying his book as soon as I can...man amazing thanks for educating me.

Adam - Yeah I love pen so much more than pencil at this point...although I still am having massive trouble using the pen that's for sure. I have so much to still learn but I am trying.

gasmask - Thanks yeah you are absolutely right...I need to start using softer lead to get some contrast...thanks man.
