I started a thread a few months ago asking what I should be putting in a game design portfolio, and I thank everyone that helped me with that.
Anyway I have put together some drawings and made a pretty good portfolio (by my standards anyway, nothing fantastic)

However, my friends that want to do this course also, have only included 3D work (maybe because they can't draw), so now I am getting slightly worried as the interview is in a couple of days time. I have only used 3D software a few times and only know the basics. I thought that I shoudn't be showing 3D work as that's what they are going to be teaching.

So my question is, do I not need drawings in my portfolio but only 3D work, as my friends are convinced they only want to see 3D stuff?

sounds like drawing fits you better than the 3d stuff. If that's so, I wouldn't really worry about it. I have the same thing (my 3d sucks), but with showing interest for the course and telling that you have also interest in 3d, drawings can be a big plus. 3d is (in my opinion) , something that can be learned to anyone, drawing isnt.I'm not saying that 3d isnt important, but choose for what you fits best. I managed to get into a course with showing interest and motivation, portfolio was second place. Just go for it:teeth:

There is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all portfolio.
