I think the main problems with this is balance and perspective.
Balance: I've been practicing in the horse stance for a long time, and let me tell you the last thing you want to do is lean back. In fact, the lower back should be going forward while his ribcage/shoulders/upper torso is level.
Perspective: I see you've shortened the front leg and back to try to get some foreshortening going, but it's not working. The back leg doesn't have to be foreshortened, so right now it's just plain too short. I think you'll have to exxagerate the size of the front leg to make it work. As with a normal horse stance, his lower legsa should not be straight up and down (relative to the ground) as you have now.
My advice would be to ge into this stance, or do a google search (horse stance or chikodachi should get decent results) and get some reference.

He needs a pelvis. Right now, his legs are connecting directly into the bottom of his abdomen.
