great work on these. maybe the pirate's right hand should be no silhouette but visible, a strong fist holding that confused whale ;-)

First and last are amazing. Very confident brushwork. The last piece has a very "foster" feeling to it, which is right on in my book. Keep up the great work.

Hello, that's really extremely enjoyable collection of images, should gather much more comments, but people are being lazy these days, :). Harsh words, but True.
Don't think less about this exhibition, please, it is beautiful. Four of those especially make a great connection with me, two of them are extreme charmers, one of them is perfect ans should be bought by a person with a refined taste to hang in his house with a generous pay to an artist.

The Theodora is a major attraction and I hope you are aware how sexy, controlling over mind and how open this piece is. Do you realize how much it tells about you? this piece? It is just like monologue, unstoppable and passionate. In times of Theodora rein you would have been burned for this piece, too provocative and too seductive. I wrote so much about it, you know all my thoughts already. Her face, pose, sensative, lustful fingers on her feet, the textures of precious wood and embellishments of the chair and colors are my most favorite unforgettable things, I will remember your image, probably forever, it is unforgettable.

Morrigan, You shouldn't be ashamed of this image and although I criticized the pose and her legs, I still think the pose was very interesting and being done without ref it is wonderful, has spur of the moment effect. Maybe you shouldn't change it, it has lovely spontaneity, I value it more than ideal but stiff gesture.
face is wonderful, so much alive. it is your very strong point, you know, right, rare expression and especially on women faces. Keep surprising us unexpectedly with those fresh finds.

In the self portrait I like the mood, sleepy, inverted, subdued. the one which Amedeo Modigliani mastered so wonderfully. Out of this world experience caught on a canvas.
I like the big chimp being charmed by a butterfly, especially for this lyrical story.
Crits. I think you are a bit too much reserved with colors in your images. I wish you were more open. Theodora is a wonderful breakthrough. but overall you use the same palette and the same effect, energetic brushworks and subdued, modest, distanced colors. I wish you searched for new effects and a manner to talk in art, some unexpected surprises for your viewer, new moods.

Thanks for the support everybody.

Kfeeras: Good point. I was nearing the end of my energy on that piece and got a little too lazy. I think it deserves another pass. thanks for the crit.

sve: I always enjoy reading your comments sve. Thank you for taking the time to talk about my humble bunch here. I'm glad your responding to the Theodora piece. I had a very clear idea of what i wanted there. Maybe that is showing? Thanks for the crit about the colors and mood. It has forced me to reconsider some of the palette choices I've been making.

mrgrumble: Hey Timmy! thanks for stopping by mang!

EDIT: I placed the images at the top of the thread.

Hey Zak! Good to hear from you. Unfortunately the landscapes were not painted from life but a shoddy photo and memory.

Tim: hahahaha. oh man, i was wondering where my keys were! If it weren't for all those ruffies you slipped me maybe we wouldn't have this problem. Damn you to hell!!!!

I am probably goign to do another version but in color of that first oil. I think it captured something that i don't want to ruin. Knowing me that is what will happen. haha.

Hey Rich! I really like that 'bird' painting and the portrait painting at the top of the post. I particularly like the way the treatment of the sky in the 'bird' one hooks up with the movement of the hair and keeps things alive formally right across from corner to corner. This 'fluttering' sense of form and how you use it is your really strong point - you are clearly at your most comfortable when painting with a sense of movement, even in the static parts. Like me, I feel that for you colour is not the most important thing and that getting the volumes ringing right is the thing that turns you on. I guess that's why the monochrome first painting looks so comfortable and to the point.
Just a passing thought again on the 'bird' picture: I like the cut down version better because it is more focused - a lot of the ground in the larger one is not really doing anything plastically and narratively. That sky of yours is the thing, a great lesson in how to keep 'non' areas alive and building on the story and intension of the piece. Great stuff.
PS. Have you taken that job offer that was posted in this thread!

You have some really sweet stuffgoing on in here man. I love the latest update and the historical figure piece. In the Theodora piece, I would just pay a little more attention to your hands and feet, the structure lacks some love. Also in your god's piece, I feel if her body was even more at a diagnol, it would add more dynamic to the piece and really convey motion. Great work, and keep postin' -

I am now officially your biggest fan, because of that first one, and that first one alone. What did ya use? Kinda looks like oil, but my eye is not the keenest for that.
