I merged 2 images from the eclipse last weekend to get this, the one with the cloudse showing had the moon overexposured so i took the moon from another pic.

it looks nice, but it also looks fake and over edited, Kind of like a CG moon, Any how i relay do like it, but i believe its more product of your photoshop skills than anything else

Wasn't there a photoshop competition thread? Whatever happened to it?

this is more Photography than any of the HDR pictures people are putting up and i dont see people crying that those arent Photography. I absolutely love this picture, then again im slightly inclined to as im going into Astrophysics.

I think this is an amazing capture and overall just an amazing picture. I'd buy a print of this in a second. Good job!

Also, i dont think it looks fake at all, and i dont really understand why people are being so hard on you about this. You merged two images... so what? you didnt add the clouds or highly artificially enhance anything by the looks of it. Maybe people just dont know what a lunar eclipse in clouds looks like?

how can you say that....
HDR is a tehnique ... merging 2 different photos together is something that anybody can do ...

its a great image, please don't get me wrong, its something i would love to have a print of, but taking a moon out of one picture and essentially pasting it on to a photo of clouds at night, its more than photography.
again don't get me wrong, I love this image

You guys arent reading him properly.

He took one photography of the Moon with clouds, which was overexposed and merged it with one Photograph of the Moon without clouds.

so lets see, one overexposed and one not, sounds a little like HDR except only two Photographs. And the darkened portion of the Moon is NOT cloud cover, its the Earth casting a shadow on the Moon

I dont see how this is any less Photography than HDR

agree with shade of dawn, also not so different from double exposure that can be done even on a film camera.

I'd like to see the actual pictures. No offense, but I can't see the authentic photograph in there.

I actualy took images to make a HDR, but there was to much movement on the moon and mostly in the clouds, so that´s why i used PS to put 2 of them together.
