Would love any answers from industry vets, but I'll take input from all.
Basically I'm just wondering if its best for me to drop off a portfolio of my work on a burned CD or a bound set of copies?
thanks for your help

I'm assuming GDC stands for Game Developers Conference, and not God Damn Crackwhores,
check this thread out, there's a few obtuse remarks, but buried within is some excellent portfolio advice,

As an art-director in the ads myself I can say that I personally prefer bound copies. The additional work of putting a CD in a comp and having to browse through the stuff at a screen is definitely a disadvantage - I normally donīt have much time and when comparing different people we have to employ I can look at the copies - I donīt have the nerve to print everything out. Employment is often a matter of discussion and not just the whims of a single person here. This goes of course for 2d work and Print stuff. If youīre doing 3D and animation a CD is imo the way to go.

Either way, make sure to point them to your website for more info (as in, include the url on your cd or copy and make it visible.)
