Howdy!

As a huge fan of the Prince of Persia series, I doodle a bit the Prince once in a while. But now, I wanted to do a bigger piece. One showing the evolution of the character through the trilogy. Still early, but you get the main concept. C&C are always appreciated.:)

nice job on the anatomy, clean lines, and a good concept.. what is bugging me is the chest of the top figure.. it seems too wide -like the ribcage doesn't get that wide -its the latissimus dorsi that backs it up. But maybe its just me...

My sketchbook is here (http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=71080)

Yeah. I wanted to make it seems like his upper body is more forward and his upper arms / shoulder are more backwards.

Thanks for the kind words. ;-)

Well Im not really familiar with the Prince of Persia series, but your linework is fabulous! Really beautiful, I wish I had linework like you. I love the concept too. I can really see that evolution of the character, even without knowing that games! I would be tempted to put them the other way around though, it seems kinda backwards to me, coz we read (including images) from top to bottom and so it seems as though the character gets less crazed and dangerous as he evolves. I can totally see that its meant to be the other way, but it did take me a sec to get that.

Awesome work!

Thanks a lot man! Yeah, it seems awkward a bit, but maybe I'll do a print version of this, so if you see it as a small poster, maybe it'll make more sense. Also, it could be an effect of the 'Sands of Time' and you see his evolution backwards.:}

Looks good thus far and as a fellow PoP fan I like what you've done. However there are a couple issues. The middle image of the Prince....he is minus a neck. Even if he were hunching there would be more neck visible. Plus it makes him look very squatty and the Prince has a typically heroic body, no squattiness. The first Prince borders on the same problem but I think hes looking at the dagger of time and kind of leaning his head forward. Also I would suggest spacing them out a bit more. Right now the whole head on crotch thing isnt working. Its especially noticeable on the princes from PoP 1 and 2. Just spread them out enough so that the swirling element your using serves as a separating element. It will still tie them all together since its swirling through the entire piece but it will delineate them a bit more, they are different games after all. Nice work thus far though and cant wait to see some colors.

Thanks for the kind words guys! I'll try to finish it some day but I have an illustration contract for drawing the pages of around 12 volumes with 20 pages each for school books and I also have college work so, I'm REALLY busy. ;-)

Here's a quick thing I did. I took the crit someone gave me about the 'Head & Crotch' thing and changed the position and added something else. I wanted to find a way to make a fourth version of the Prince. Him as the new ruler of Babylon. The pose ISN'T the one I'm gonna be using, it's just a quick placeholder.

Yup, I do it all on computer. Thanks man!

Here's a little update:

- move the head on the second Prince, now he has a neck.
- Added some veins on the neck and arms of the first and second one.
- Changed the chains in the Dark Prince's arm but I'll change them again later.
- Changed the nose on the first one but I'm still not sure. If you have any suggestions, it'll be appreciated. I'm having a hard time with this nose! ;-P

I love the designs, especially of the Dark Prince. He's a great character, and you captured him perfectly. As previously said, the chest on the Dark Prince is a bit too wide on the left side (I'm talking about our left)
I can't wait to see the finished versions. They're great games and you do them justice.

Whaddup!

Scrapped the composition and the 'Light/Dark Prince' figure and re-did the whole thing!

Here's the sketch :)

Whoa..what game does he become king of persia? I dont remember that at all. Im a little sad that you got rid of the first image, the one with the dark prince in it. That was the best image out of all of them. The lines were dynamic and his expression was really good. But the new composition has its strong points too.

Thanks man. Yeah, I liked that image but it didn't fit well with the composition. But don't worry, the three new figures are just sketches so I'll use the same line work as the one I got rid of.

As for the 'King' image, well, after the ending and the events of THE TWO THRONES, it's safe to imagine that course of event. ;-)

YEa the new composition is much better as an illustrative piece. Its reminiscent of movie poster styles. Im very sad to see the dark price go tho .... :(

Thanks for the words guys!

Don't worry, the new pencil work for the new additions will make you forget about the previous Dark Prince. :-)

Unfortunately, it'll have to wait since I have SO MUCH work right now, school work, illustration contract I have to finish and....well, GOD OF WAR II coming out this week. :-P

!!! This week? :O

Anyways, nice new composition, make sure you get some reference or study arm anatomy closely when you get close to finalizing the drawing.

good sketches, however the character's face doesn't look like original concept.
