More artists should do time lapsed paintings like that! I learned something from watching it! Except I think he went a little overboard with the highlighting just at the end there.

Thanks stoph!

The face was nice but why oh why did he have to pull that colorize crap and then top it off with a bad photographic background. :lens:

it's a shame that out of hundreds of amazing speedpaints, a decent painting of a guy from lost is the one that gets 600k views...

Agreed Bammer, as soon as he put up the background I stopped watching his painting and kept staring at the background, waiting for him to fix the damned thing.

The colorize didn't bother me so much though, although he probably could have used some stronger colors. They were pretty faint, near the point of non-existence.

My sentiments exactly. There are quite a few AWESOME painting vids on there, but the guy who does Popular stuff from movies is the one who gets on the front page...

I wouldnt call a 3 hour painting a speedpaint.. ;/

Also the guy had reference & practice before recording, honestly speaking, the front of the skull seems tilted too far right to the orientation of the head and his ear is really far out. The colors I felt were really muted and dull, the background was just a crock of shit and the cherry belongs to an obnoxious white signature.

With regards to the practice bit, he would have drawn/painted locke (http://img.timeinc.net/ew/dynamic/imgs/050913/163653__locke_l.jpg) several times before recording this. Overall a less than mediocre painting and dare I say ripoff.

But im with rabid on the music..

I'd make one, but i draw on a 1600x1200 wide screen, so anything i try makes like a 200gig file. blah.

Man, CA should start a channel. Then we all post up vids of our speedpaints on there... give em something to hollar about.

Speaking of whatnot, How do they record that?

1 hour to paint, 6 minutes to watch. Sorry if the choice of music isnt everyone's cup of tea.

Awesome Slash, you kicked the Locke guy's ass. You definitely got the eyes down. His mouth and jaw feel a little off, but it's very recognizably him.

Do more of these! I love watching speedpaints.
