Very sculptural and an interesting technique. Quill nibs and tech pens for the figure drawings?

I'm thinking of doing more i.d. style of sketching and rendering myself.

Nice organized shading with the pens, really holds things together. Good form on the figures too. Keep it up!

you have a very techtonik style - this kinda lines work so good with neutrals grey and cold tones colours in general :) (try a cold contrasted monochrome)
lookin forward to see more of u :)
cheers mate

U got a real stylized rendering technique there mate, love it, im all for individuality, taking heed of the ol figure and hand studies eh? hands are a friggin nightmare lemme tell u, but but keep on with them.

1 thing u cud try is finding a method of drawing hands on the fly and blocking them out the same way u wud a figure or a face, this does require some study of hand bones and muscles, but will help immensely if u wish to be able to draw them more fluently.

Hope that helps, i be watching this one! :)

Yeah...I have lot of architectural friends who's kinda does it the same way..
It's pretty but I don't know how to do it because of a different training.
I could just marvel on what they could come up with...

Cool...

hey, thanks for stopping by. :)
i see youre a fan of using lines to block in shadow areas. thats not a bad thing at all, but it would be nice to see you try other methods. try curving your lines to bring more volume to your forms- as if you were wrapping the lines around the 3d figures. show some more charcoal drawings and more digitals! color those funny creatures you have! ^_^

Hey, thanks for stopping by! Love what you've got here. I love your style of rendering. It really conveys the mass of the forms nicely. Great figure studies, and I especially love the blue craft in post #14. Can't wait to see more!

Cool stuff man.
Specially like shoe and watch.
Those are very designlike, if you wanted to try sth. more artsy, I would advise to loosen up. Like with swooshy, dynamic lines with a variety of width and weight. Also you might want to set a focus of what there is in an image that is of the greatest interest to you. Like face or hands or sth.
For sb who's going in the direktion of design, these are great .
Could try doing some more with negative space for example though.

Good sense of design here, must try to do something like that myself. *note to self: copy looped warrior's drawings and get rich*

The only crit I can think of is that sometimes your monochrome shadows create "holes", watch out for that. Good work overall, I like it a lot.

Keep going... draw from life. Check out how Alberto Giacometti drew with lines but was able to capture some complexity and mystery in the figure, so they don't just become a lifeless schematic. Keep it up!!

Hey man, great sketchbook! I like the linequality of your lifedrawings, really difficult.

Those last thumbs are good but it would be better if you set opacity at 100% and erase stuff in the silhouette. Something like this http://thegnomonworkshop.com/img/dev/screengrabs/fzh01/fzh01l.jpg

Great studies overall!
Keep it up!

I love the rendering with the ink of the man sitting down on the first page. You definitely have an unique style going on here. I like how you draw the figures coming out of the frames. It really makes for an interesting composition

Got to aggree with Shobunkin, the first post is my favourite. Really like the line rendering. Nice too see some Hogarth too, more of those! In the 27th post I suggest some more contrasts.

hey, i like your controlled shading...you and i are very much alike in that. your digi stuff is taking off as well :)

the only thing i'd suggest is to try and get more values in your line stuff...maybe even just one more. it would make a big difference

I really like what you did with your Hogarth study on the first page. Your other figure studies look great too. Your last environment has a lot of potential. You really should do a little more with it. It would be fun to see where you take this.

impressive ink work. ink is a confident medium and you control it well. you should check out the Older Mcfarlen comics, Spawn and such. they did amazing texture work in ink.
keep shooting them out!

Hey, thanks for dropping by my sb, I thought I'd do the same. Have to agree with most that's been said here already. I love the shading and lines you do with ink, reminds me that i need to get my lines cleaner too. Just keep doing what you're doing and before you know you will be much better(same here:P). Don't let anything get you down and decide to stop drawing. Good luck!

Oh and btw, if it hasn't been said already, the drawing on the first page of the sitting man is probably from Dynamic Figure Drawing by Burne Hogarth.

Great bridgman studies... you make mine look shameful hehe. I love your environmental studies and I really would like to see the one you did with fish. I like how you did your own unique take on the mentler fan work... one critique may be to play with the skin tones on the face more.

Hello :)
Very nice personal style!
I really like the strong, determined line you have-very solid and expressive...
My favs so far would be the black doodles in Painter-there's something nightmarish about those little figures, I like it ;D

Your jaw line/neck area on the Michelangelo study might be a tiny bit off and the raised knee has a little bit more definition than what you have, but overall, its an awesome study. I feel like I am being nit picky when what I really want to do is tell you how great it is.

I am just getting into the Bridgeman book, myself, but I love how he breaks things down into planes. Your fist study is a good example of that. It reads right even though it isn't as smooth looking as your Michelangelo study. Again, your hatching is your strength in this study.

I am looking forward to your next post.

Some very nice, solid looking pen drawings there, keep drawing everything.
Try out some different mediums as well, it gets you thinking about what you are seeing harder when you arn't relying on the usual methods.
I found this has helped me alot, it makes things more interesting too.

Sorry it's taken so long to get back to you.

I *think* the ear-jaw-chin is at a slightly different angle.

I like how you have defined the planes on the last sketch. I am learning a lot by looking at your sketches.

You have some really good work here Loopy. You have a very unique style and the linework you have down - now you should try to shade some more and render something out a bit more realistically. Of course this is a matter of style and where you choose to take it next hehe.

Looking real nice, love the style.
just noticed the newer study of mine. I'm honored.

Do you see the older posts still on my sb? I think picshome.com is messed up, nothing on pages 1-15 show anymore.

Loops, you have some great sketches. I am SOOO jealous of your strong, quick and graceful lines.

Just joined today, haven't had time to make a sketchbook, but after I finish the children's book I'm doing for a client, I'll have time to do that.

Great work and getting better all the time!
