One class I've taken had a Visual Communication Design professor give a presentation on the VCD major. Before he began, he said he'd clean out visual palates and he showed us a brief video clip that consisted of colors, text, and music. He also concluded the presentation with the same thing. There video didn't seem to be about anything either.
Does anyone know about "cleaning the visual palate"? Right now I'm thinking it's supposed to make people more receptive to what they're about to see, eg if I had something unrelated on my mind, I might think about that during his lecture instead of paying attention to him. But that's just a total guess.
