hello everyone,

this is a painting I am doing for class, it's a self portrait done in acrylic paint. I find myself doing much more comic like paintings these days, let me know what you think

I like it, though that bright light blue reflection might be a bit too strong

I really dig the comic book look. It might need a little more contrast with light and dark.

dunno about that green, and the white sumthing on his shirt.
that warm brown kinda erks me too, dunno why, but it catches my eye.
my eye gets kinda stuck with the grey box on the upper right.

i agree about the contrast between dark and light, needs a bit more in the hood and some in the background

afterthought= the white is part of a necklace, and the warm brown is part of a translucent curtain by the window

thanks for the help, i will post an updated version in due time

is this from a photograph? or mirror?

- you should practice drawing from a mirror using pencil or charcoal. You've probably done this, I dont know, but I really do think it may help you think more about your final execution in paint...

it is from a photograph, and the camera i used doesn't do it justice. flash made it a bit brighter than it actually is, sorry about that guys

molly= i am in my third year of univeristy for art, and i can tell you this, they make you do a ton of life drawings, especially self portraits. Doing self portraits, you always have a model to use...free of charge, anways, yeah there are a few things i wish to work on in this piece, and thanks a bunch for the feedback.

I'm digging the style.
Instead of making it look somewhat realistic, I think you should push
the comic look even more so it looks both confident and controlled.
However, that requires you to accomplish well-studied colours and accurately simplified shapes within your art work.
I say you are on the right track, keep pushing and good things shall happen!

contour outline or keyline all start thicker in the foreground and recede to thin to the background general illusionary technique. got the photo then if so rescan damp down the brightness and increase the contrast it will increase the face area detail. remove the light to shadow line in the face.

Your almost there.

axl rose? that's awesome man!!! AHaahaha, i am going to try and make the line work a little more crisp, and thin it out in some areas, as well as thicken others
