View Full Version : New work and a big thank you to CA

Good news! As of this past Monday, I've officially started a job as a concept artist in the game industry! I thought it was appropriate, in light of recent events, to post some new material.

I take the time to post it here because, without CA.org, my life for the past few years would not have panned out as wonderfully as it has. It obviously took a lot of work on my part, but the information, inspiration, and networking provided by these forums have been absolutely instrumental in any success I've managed thus far. In fact, it was contacts I made at the SF Workshop in 2005 that directly resulted in my landing this job.

So thanks so much to the great guys who started this place and continue to run it. And all the incredible artists who make it an inspirational and educational resource. Your work has ramifications you may never know, but helps change peoples lives for the better. :yayca:

It'll be a while before I can show anything I'm doing for work, but when I can I will!

And now on to the good stuff...

i like the way you handle color and paint but there are some praportion problems im seeing especialy with that first image of the bird girl. the length of the trunk of her body in relation to the size of her head is realy strange. and both the right and left leg which our tucked in seem way too small.

Congrats on landing your job welcome to the industry!

My favourite here would be shark-merman, and not just 'cause you gave him some claspers ;)

I love the shiny skin texture on the dinos, wonderful rendering there. And props for drawing wings that look like wings! (I've seen too many renditions which just look like masses of feathers heh). And frickin wow is all I can really say, keep showing 'em that XX chomosomes can be fantastic too :D

Congratulations! I can only imagine how awesome it would be to get such a job.

Anyway, good posts. Big fan of water-related art, especially fictional, so I'm really enjoying your shark-man and amphibian/fish-man. Great work!

masque: glad you enjoyed them :)
gutterez: thanks!
j a k e: Always nice seeing your stuff online too, jake :)
Ostrander: Thanks!
Vigostar: thanks :) I always appreciate your posts on CA
hookswords: thankee
Felicia: thanks :)
Elwell: I've been wishing for a pro tag since I first saw them! I don't think it's sunk in yet that it's actually sort of an accurate description now :D
The Gnoll: Glad you like it! I really appreciate your posts on my SB :)
Poise: Haha, yes, one step at a time! Thanks so much for the great compliment though :) I've always wanted to do film... maybe one day.
Interceptor: Thanks, Loren! I hope you're doing well back in Calgary. I'm not sorry I left that place in the winter. It's a balmy 13 degrees in London today :teeth:
CraigD: thankya :)
SBACHAN: The giant is a favourite of my boyfriend too :P
MoP: Being that you're a person I contact on a regular basis, it's accurate ;)
whiteeeeee: Lack of job before this was due largely to finishing school, but thanks for the sentiment :)
I.Was.Ink: I will keep updating! I do have a sketchbook (don't update that enough :()... it's linked in my sig.
Sarcophagus: Check the SB link in my sig!
Camara: thanks :)
noshadowmaster: thanks a bunch for the crit, though I may have to respectfully disagree on most of it. Her proportions aren't intended to be idealised (as the vast majority of women painted round here are). Ideal proportions are short torso/long legs, but lots of real women are long torso/short-legged. I'm not sure what you mean about the head, as it looks fine to me (I spent a fair bit of time puzzling over it)... a paintover would probably help more!
oma: I will! thanks :)
haxxxor: Not everybody knows I am a girl yet, I think! But thanks.
iolarnula: Claspers, yes! Nothing but anatomical accuracy for me ;) I didn't think anybody else would notice, but it makes me happy you did. Wings are a sticking point with me. I hate lumps of feathers too.
Bammer: glad you enjoy!
Bowlin: thanks :)
Complete2: My favourite too, easy :P You oughta post evil merman! I'd like to see.
Oblio: Thanks to you to, for all your tons of work! I'm in crunch now (jumping in at the deep end), so no Chow yet, but I've been meaning to take a stab at it..
Beelow: Just keep working hard and network, network, network!
Sleep_Eden_Sleep: Pretty safe to imagine it's really good!
ElvisMcVegas:thankee!
spudstudios:thanks :)
