At the Fresh Festival at South Street Arts Centre in April I will be curating The Empty Space Gallery and we need stuff to exhibit!
The Empty Space Gallery is an open forum for 'artists' and 'non-artists' alike to submit 'work' and get feedback…
You are invited to submit anything that you think is 'art'…It is an experiment in 'art', 'artists', and those that think they are…
Works can be in any medium (CDs/DVDs/Photography/Canvass/ Sculpture/Text/etc.) as long as they fit inside an A4 envelope, carry a signature, and are accompanied by a biography and email address of the 'artist'…
You can use the gallery to get genuine feedback on new work or for shameless self-promotion…
Here's what will happen…
Once received, your 'work' will be catalogued, then sealed in an A4 envelope, and hung in the gallery...
When visitors come to the gallery they will only be able to see the A4 envelopes and the name of the submitting 'artist', not the 'works' inside, before choosing one at random…
Visitors will be able to take the 'work' they have chosen home and own it; on the condition that they email their feedback to a central email address…this feedback will then be passed on to the 'artist'…
Considering that visitors will be able to own the 'works' for free, by making a submission, you are agreeing to donate the 'work' to the gallery…
Send your submissions to: Anna Howitt – Fresh Festival, c/o South Street Arts Centre, South Street, Reading, Berkshire, RG1 4UQ…
Deadline for submissions: Friday, 30 March 2007
