Just a tip, if you want to dump the entire canvas type /save
It'll make a PNG file which if you want to post here better be converted to JPEG.
Also good for those art pieces that you've been noodling on for hours and don't want to lose in any case, just /save regularly.

Had some fun, but i noticed some quirks in the program. (or just me being too stupid to figure out the tools properly..) When i was at a high zoom level the drawing tool was very unaccurate. (hence the face suckage.) Very fun to watch the guys go at it, its an inspiring environment to doodle in! come on in and try it some time!

I have a question, is Sketcher more like Photoshop or more like Painter? I've only ever used photoshop, and must say I like sketcher much more, it seems more fluid and the smudge tool works very well for me.

I cannot connect to Sketcher. It states 'connection refused' which is beyond me why it would be. When attempting to log in at different times with a fresh browser on multiple computers the Java applet loads and stops before even initating the first layer.

The java applet loads for me, but it says 'connection refused' in the status window and then exits. I suppose you could ask Thor - it runs on his server, as I recall.

Same happens to me when I go through the CA link. I even tried gettin in through the art grounds site, then it just says " connections timed out" after 5 minutes or so.

Well... Graffiti really isn't the problem. It's ##$#@ who come in, delete a layer and then run out. If you've been working on something for a while, only to have it vanish due to some #%#@$%'s vandalism, you'd be somewhat upset also.

Umm... You seem a bit... Dense. It's a quote from Voltaire regarding personal rights. He was expressing that one's rights end where they begin to infringe upon another. In other words, the right of vandals to delete layers end where my drawing begins. I'm not talking about moderating what's drawn - hardly. I'm talking about people coming in, randomly deleting layers and leaving. It's simply done out of spite and there is no defense of it.

Well, obviously I've never read Voltaire, so the reference was lost on me. It sounded more like a threat than clever bit of philosophical patter.

First thing, I would like to say that I do not support cyber vandalism of this kind. It's a pretty lame, dickish, childish, petty, and stupid way to get attention for oneself. The problem is you cannot moderate the activity. It would cause an erosion in what Sketcher is, and defeat the whole purpose of the chatroom-sketching program. That purpose being an open, free place to come, talk to people, and draw publicly.

Now, you could try to get the 'Remove Layer' function removed. Petition that Thor guy, get lots of people to agree with you, and have the function taken out of Sketcher. But, the same people using that function to destroy artwork, would come it, take a tool, probably the Eraser, throw its size all the way up, and presto! A whole layer, erased.

So then what happens.

Yep, someone petitions for the tools to be changed...or a register to be created...or moderators to be added. If a register was created, then you'd never have new people joining up, it would take away the open aspect of the program. And, as I mentioned before, you can't moderate something art based, because there are too many opinions on the subject of art.

So, the same. I joined artgrounds yesterday because of "shared secret". And yes, it seems like DeviantArt room, manga cute wolfies, yes, yes,... BUT, there they have like, registration and sort of system against the vandals. (Also they have some stupid rules, like "clean after yourself when leavin")

In this discussion about the Registration need VS er.. Artistic liberty, nice anarchy atmosphere, or whatsover you are talking about, in CA paintroom, I am joining the first side. I've met these "funny" kids with erasers few times when I was finishing drawing. And ok, it's just sketcher, if you want to seriously draw, draw in PS, blah, blah, sketcher is about fun, yes, but I just don't see fun in this. It's more sad and frustrating, to say the thruth.

Not sure. Try rebooting, then give it another go.

If you haven't yet, try downloading the newest version of Java.

Freshly updated install of java to be sure, still doesn't work. I've tried on Opera, FF, even IE (shudder)

its like an interactive, public version of photoshop where people can log on- chat to each other, draw and colour and make pretty patterns :) and people can do colabs (two people working on one piece) and its just more fun to be able to chat and draw WITH your freinds and other people rather than just on photoshop ALOOONNE

Technically someone owes me 3 payments (February, March, April) on that room since it was up and in use all along, but since I didn't claim these payments, I'm not going to bring that up. Looks like it dying and crashing is not helping it's popularity. It needs to roll smoothly to build up some steam.

Surprised this is not used more. Mebe the mod coder here should make something more local to the forum, and perhaps some CA chess or something.
